Sadly, he announced a positive test on January 21 after coming into contact with a person who tested positive the previous week, so we can’t blame it on the insurrectionists. Nor do we know what hero infected him.
He won his last re-election bid 53-44 in a gerrymandered district where a blue part of Tarrant County (home to Fort Worth) is attached to two rural counties that it is barely connected to. Feels like a hard district to flip, but Ted Cruz only won the district 51-48 in 2018 and maybe there’s a puncher’s chance without Trump on top of the ticket.

I don’t really want to celebrate the death of human beings, even if they’re idiots and go in ways that say “this guy deserved to go exactly this way”. On the other hand, a year ago I predicted ~5 congresspeople or senators would end up going this way and I don’t want to go o-fer either.
