They have influence over publishers because of the size of their market. I don’t think they supply actual books. Maybe related, they turned the schoolbook depository in Dallas into a museum.
You’re right. I now remember it better. School book publishers cater to the Texas curriculum and other states order the same books.
that’s some elite level grifter shit
I have some personal experience with this. My dad wrote a high-school math textbook. It was for one of the major textbook publishers - IIRC Rand. The textbook was specifically written based on the Texas curriculum as the the plan was to get approved in Texas and then other states would follow. During the writing of the textbook, drafts were sent to people in Texas to review to ensure it was what they wanted. For some reason Texas approval fell through, after which Rand basically dropped trying to get the textbook approved in other states (for some reason I can’t recall, it did get approved in Michigan). Had Texas approved, my dad would have made millions, instead, he made mid-5 figures.
So basically, for many (most?) textbooks Texas is the gateway to get adopted by other states.
Not watching that. Have picked up Beaucoup dog crap in my life, including this morning.
We need a rank order of Catholic sins. You’d think consensual gay sex would be below pedophilia, but apparently not.
There are two categories, iirc.
Mortal: God turns his back on you. Hell awaits*.
Venial: God gives you the silent treatment. Hell awaits*.
*Confession might get you off the hook. It’s up to God.
I’m down to shake my head at this priest for being a massive hypocrite his entire life, but also what the fuuuck using app data to out someone like that. Seems like not a good ability to have in a society.
I’ve said in another thread that I think we should be using this data as a weapon against Republicans.
Someone should tell reporters that HIPAA rules (not rights!) only apply to covered entities, which are specifically defined:
Covered entities are defined in the HIPAA rules as (1) health plans, (2) health care clearinghouses, and (3) health care providers who electronically transmit any health information in connection with transactions for which HHS has adopted standards.
So no, you asshole, asking if you have been vaccinated is not a violation of your rights.
Believe it or not, this is the smarter half of my Senate delegation:
Can someone explain the logic of the B&J ban to me? Why only the occupied areas, shouldn’t they just ban it in the rest of Israel as well.
It’s not like he gets a chance to practice dating given the demands of his job.
Whew. Not my hometown. Do not know the guy.
This dipshit was in the news last year for something.
I don’t remember for what - but I absolutely remember that dipshit face from an article explaining some moronic thing he did.
