Allowing people to turn right on red is some medieval nonsense. Nobody in the us is able to make responsible use of that.

Iā€™m just imagining some dumbass nodding along like ā€œyeah libs trying to turn cars into bikes now! You canā€™t force me to believe that bikes belong on roads, this is where cars always go and will always go, there are only two vehicles, car or truck, suvs arenā€™t real change my mindā€

Itā€™s already banned in Montreal.

I get angry that no one realizes you can turn left on red from a one way to a one way.

This is why when they make me Emperor the driverā€™s test will involve simulators and be much more difficult. Many people will no longer be eligible for licenses, necessitating a real commitment to public transportation.

My kid got his license after 6 lessons. Has never been on the freeway or dealt with 80% of common real-world driving situations. And heā€™s now technically allowed to just hit the road, itā€™s crazy.

I realize this, but I also encounter a left turn from a one way street to another one way street about as often as the Rangers win the Cup.

Depends on the state in USA.

Texas will get rid of right on red right after they legalize marijuana.

Took my test in the UK and canā€™t believe how unbelievably soft it is here (2 kids thru the system), however I do like turning right on red.

My drivers test did not even include a left turn lol. The test route was just driving around the perimeter of the strip-mall superblock the DMV was on. The diving part of the test was so short I failed the maneuverability portion because I was confused about what was going on.

Fuck stop lights lets go full roundabouts everywhere.

Thereā€™s a crosswalk with traffic lights that include a lighted NO RIGHT TURN ON RED sign I use every day, twice a day. I figure my chances of walking across the road without a car cutting me off as the driver ignores the sign are about 4/5. Go down quite a bit at rush hour though.

The party of small government and fiscal responsibility* (*except when handing out golden parachutes to our buddies)

Cliffs: at the last board meeting, the outgoing board (which was filled with Moms for Liberty/ book banning types) gave a $700,000 severance package to the Superintendent. They also put in a provision that he could keep his old laptop as long as he deleted school files, but the courts already blocked that provision b/c the records were subject to a preservation order b/c of ongoing litigation about the books and other anti-LGBTQ actions by the outgoing board.

I had to take at least 12x90min lessons at a certified driving school, plus theory lessons, written & practical tests. Today that costs up to ā‚¬2000.

And right turn on red exists in Germany because of socialism! :transmet_smiley: Wasnā€™t used in West Germany, but East Germany had a road sign (a green arrow) that would allow it in some places. Today, that sign is also used in the West sometimes.

i want to know how many of the ā€œincrease in crashesā€ is from cyclists just riding straight through the red light without stopping that the car is trying to turn on before i come to any kind of judgementā€¦

but i do like the crazy attempt at linking it to transpeopleā€¦

Yeah this. Tons of cyclists decide to use the road then use the crosswalk like a pedestrian when the light is red (while still riding the bike). Itā€™s completely standard. If one of those guys gets hit, itā€™s on them.

I was wondering why bicyclists are against right on red when they are supposed to obey the same laws as cars.

Anyone driven in Europe? The bicyclists rule the road in the Netherlands. In Italy they were just fearless, I have no idea how there arenā€™t 1000s of deaths a year.
