GOP Insanity Containment 2: This is the Place. This is the Time, Cowboy.

“Being taken as a slave is better than being killed!” Could be the tag line for the holocaust movie The Grey Zone about sonderkommandos, the Jews who were forced to work the machinery of mass murder at auswitz. Spoiler alert: I’m not convinced it actually is better

It’s the perfect Conservative propaganda b/c it gets people all spun up into arguments about death vs slavery while completely ignoring that the colonizers/slave traders could have chosen a third path where they neither murdered nor enslaved their fellow human beings.

Nah, killing or slavery were the only two choices. That’s just what people did back then. Expecting them to come up with something else is just insane.

barely literate hillbilly constituent: the democrats are destroying our country and they need to be tried for treason

horrifically shrill old woman: and death penalty!

crowd: [relieved laughter because someone finally said what they’re all thinking, not nervous uncomfortable laughter like when that woman told john mccain she didn’t trust obama because he’s an arab]

marjorie taylor greene: hahahaha well i think we’re endin on a right note

This is fine.

Tragic death of the GOP confirmed. (Only half joking, I believe the tragic death that was once foreseen has now largely happened. I do not know what will ultimately result from the realignment in a two party system, but it’s happening.")

J. Michael Luttig, a conservative retired federal judge and key adviser to former Vice President Mike Pence, declared on Wednesday that “there is no Republican Party” and said former President Donald Trump is even more dangerous than he was in the aftermath of the 2020 election.

“American democracy simply cannot function without two equally healthy and equally strong political parties. So today, in my view, there is no Republican Party to counter the Democratic Party in the country,” Luttig, who advised Pence on how to handle the January 6, 2021, election certification vote, told CNN’s Poppy Harlow on “CNN This Morning.” “And for that reason, American democracy is in grave peril.”

lol, so his specific concern doesn’t seem to be the risk of Republicans ushering in American Fascism, but instead Republican ineptitude under Trump making them unable to counter the Dems.

(Disclaimer: didn’t watch actual interview, and won’t.)

Yeah that’s what I got - democracy is at risk because dems are…too powerful?

Fucking Luttig. Dude needs a visit from Marlo Stanfield. He wants it to be one way, but it’s the other way.

I’ve encountered people like this IRL before. They used to vote straight GOP, but now they don’t. They say that people like Trump aren’t “real Republicans” like they are themselves. They’re fucking delusional. Trump is what Republicans are now. You are the one who isn’t.

And BTW, those Republicans are doing just fine. They’ll have the House, they will have the Senate, and the Presidency is gonna be a fucking sweat.

Yeah. They all love Trump because of his “policies”. Like what? Destroying NATO? Going full dictator? They never get to that.

Yeah, but I, for one, like to hear them say it out loud.
