Why is this surprising? I ask because I want to understand how to talk to cynics who think that Republicans canât possibly believe any of this and are just being performative as a way to justify bothsiderism.
itâs not, once you really see it. I guess subconciously I was thinking most of the house GOP were more like Cruz/Rubio/Graham, clearly theyâre all just bending the knee (plus my own GOP housecritter is just along for the ride and very clearly isnât a true believer).
Maybe the difference is just the type of person that runs for senate vs. the house. Gerrymandering means more total whackos will win primaries. Senate is still full of skull and bones types while the house is all used car salesmen.
The Senate lags behind because of incumbency. As old Republican Senators start to retire (or die in office), Trump-y House members are going to win primaries to replace them in safely red seats.
