GOP Insanity Containment 2: This is the Place. This is the Time, Cowboy.

Funny how “hard” scriptural “truths” are actually malleable.

I have an Aunt in law who is a minister in the United church and in a same sex marriage.

most of the churchgoing population belongs to a megachurch, though

these orgs effectively act like ponzi schemes. always need new money coming in as they embezzle all that sweet tax free cash into their homes yachts and cars. if the younger generation says “nah not for me” it’s a massive problem for them

Makes sense

This could well ease my Muskopium addiction.

Please let him win. I’d be tempted to use my one time on that.

Meh, I guess I do too, but the tiniest amount. You can’t work for Trump and not expect the stink not to rub off on you. And if he didn’t know, that’s kind of on him.

uh, help a heathen out, what’s the issue?

Posted by John Cornyn, signed by Ted Cruz. Some kind of service logged in under the wrong name.

ah thanks! I read it as from John to Heidi and Ted.

he’s kinda in the military. he does not get to choose his commanders

Maybe I’m missing something, but wasn’t he just some public health official in Indiana prior to being nominated. He does get commissioned upon confirmation but I don’t think he was even “kinda in the military” prior to being named Surgeon General. He knew who his “commander” was going to be and could have chosen not to serve. It’s not like that hasn’t happened. I believe Sanjay Gupta was offered it under Obama and he turned it down.

Same is true of Vivek Murthy, I think. He was a civilian until he became SG under Obama and only then did he become a commissioned officer.

The surgeon general is a uniformed, commissioned officer but isn’t in “the military”

He did say “kinda”, so I just went with it, but you’re right that even that isn’t really accurate.

sorry, i incorrectly assumed he was former navy or something. but US public health corp is a uniformed service bramch

That’s why I went with your “kinda”.

I think if someone wants to nit about it, it’s outside DOD, so pvn is correct.
