I read right wing media not infrequently. It’s mostly for laughs and opp research, though. Not because I enjoy it or think it’s insightful.
The girl I used to date who graduated magna cum laude from HLS was solidly middle class. She’s a professor at Iowa now. She went to University of Chicago undergrad.
Of all the the people who I’ve met who went there (~10), the one who was likely the poorest growing up (but still likely lower middle class) is conservative.
Maybe I’m not old enough or in an unrepresentative place or just an outlier, but this isn’t true for me at all.

it’s doubly offensive to claim that a family with a programmer husband somehow has it as tough as a family with someone in the military, or healthcare, or education. jfc, take stock that you get free lunches and wfh whenever it’s convenient
not American but like most of my friend circles are either programmers or teachers, as someone who does neither I would take a programmer 99/100. The complaints I hear from programmer friends is that during crunch periods shit can be tough/stressful. Stuff from teachers is like “not sure if I should call CPS because this kid doesn’t get enough food at home and is sometimes violent.”
