if you scroll down there’s another tweet with 4 videos of this off-duty cop stumbling hard while on-duty cops are talking to him… said they didn’t breathalyze him bc he “invoked his right to not take a breathalyzer”. when anyone else does that they’re arrested.
guy already had a breathalyzer lock on his truck from a previous dui

I’m never quite sure about this because what a lot of people get upset with police unions for seems like things that a union couldn’t do normally. There’s a bipartisan agreement though that for police unions what would normally be handled through criminal investigation is in fact a workplace dispute and should be handled as such.
Like I don’t mind if the local manufacture’s union has an agreement with management that workplace disputes or workplace infractions should be handled in this or that way; you punch in 5 minutes late the manager needs to document it, you get a warning etc. I don’t even really care if the police union negotiates something dealing with the minutia for a police workplace environment. It’s the ‘one of our workers beat someone’ well that’s got to be handled internally with all the stipulations of a workplace regulation and not a criminal case.
I guess for me it makes clear that union power is a production of social forces and not some kind of legalistic determination.
