It really is amazing.
The PGA Tour runs 40 tournaments a year and their app is an absolute embarrassment compared to this one.
This is a perfect tournament golf course. It is right on the edge, incredibly difficult but birdies are there for exceptional shots. These are the fastest greens I’ve ever seen.

I’ve only been watching for the last two hours or so but yeah they look fast as hell but fair. Not like the carnival clown mouth show the USGA tries to put on sometimes at a US Open.
Separately- I took the day off today after an optometrist appointment to play 18. I have really blue and therefore light sensitive eyes to begin with. It’s impossible to read a putt after getting your eyes dilated when there’s not a cloud in the sky. At least that’s my excuse for multiple 3 putts today.

The USGA hate is really overblown IMO. Attempting to turn a top level course into a major level course every year is not easy. AN isnt even open for like 5 months prior to the masters every year. Expecting the same level from another course isn’t realistic. I’ve always enjoyed the insane usga layouts more than the super easy ones anyways. Does anyone prefer the easy ones outside of the players?
That being said what @Riverman said is absolutely right. This is the perfect layout/setup for a pro golf tournament when it is firm. Most USGA setups get unplayable when firm.
Yeah the only one I think the USGA clearly got wrong was the Shinnecock year where it was just completely baked. But as you say, I prefer they err on the side of difficulty.

I mean the tournament is literally called “masters” in georgia, and black people/women werent allowed to be members at the club til fairly recently. So not hard to make some assumptions there.
