Golf: No Bones, just Bonesaws

That is insane.

Even if it’s among dudes who made the cut that means the scoring average was less than one shot per round lower per round.

So maybe not as drastic of a difference as those numbers make it seem, but still a joke setup that should never be revisited.

Playing two of the three courses here this weekend:

Pretty stoked, except for the fact that I had my worst round of the year this past Sunday on a shitty, short course.

Are you playing the top rated one/#1 course in Canada?

Playing Cabot Cliffs and Cabot Links

So you’re playing both good courses. You mentioned 2 of 3, but it’s really 2 of 2.

Just came back from a buddy golfing trip in Scottsdale. Played these over 3 days

TPC Scottsdale Stadium course

Talking Stick Piipaash

We Ko Pa - Cholla

Grayhawk - Raptor

Awesome. But as a 22 handicap golfer really fucking hard.

Ah I see, the third is a 10-hole par 3.

Have you played here before?

No, I don’t golf much anymore. I drove around the Cabot Trail about 8 years ago. My friend/ best man is a head pro and has played it.

I miss my time as a caddie when I would meticulously pace off the distance, adjust for wind, pin location, and elevation, then watch them chunk an iron 8 yards into the rough.

Did you play early mornings or just brave the heat?

Knocking the rust off of my golf game while back in SD.

Round 1: Colina Park, a par 3 pitch & putt course in the middle of the SD ghetto that’s in pristine, country club like condition. First round in 5 years. Shot 1 under (average hole is about 75 yards long).

Round 2: Tecolote Canyon, a tricky par 58 executive course. Shot 6 over.

Doesn’t matter if I beat balls on the range every day or don’t play for 5 years. Hit it the same and score basically the same either way. Golf is such a weird game.

Hope to get a full course round in in the next couple days to complete the trifecta.

Friday Midday Stadium Course - wasn’t too bad. believe it got to 100 but there was a breeze.

Saturday, Talking Stick morning and We Ko Pa Afternoon. Morning fine, Afternoon brutal - I’m too old to play 36 in a day in 90+ temps

Sunday, Grayhawk morning, 90+ again. I’m too old to play 4 courses in 3 days. Played terrible but I was absolutely knackered by this stage. Would love to play again but it to be the first round as it was the best course IMHO

the difference between 165 and 170 is pretty negligible unless you are mid-single digits handicap or lower

I didn’t want to presume it yesterday, but sadly, this was suicide.

Just wrapping up my trip to play Cabot Cliffs/Links. The courses didn’t disappoint. We played the Cliffs course twice. Visually, Cliffs is way more spectacular than the links course, but I think I’d prefer to play the links because it is a more fun/interesting design. Regardless, they were pretty spectacular in their own ways, but tough. The links course felt like playing in Scotland according to one of my buddies. The weather was rough, windy and rainy the first day. Real cold (for a Florida kid) the second day.

I played terribly, still knocking off the rust from winter, so the golf was especially frustrating. We were playing from the Silver tees so the length of both was around 6100. For me that is pretty short, so I ended up having a ton of approach shots within 100yds on par 4s, which should have boded well for my scoring. Unfortunately I lost all ability to hit my wedges. Shot 99, 94, and 87.

I’ll try and post some photos later when I get a chance.
