Did not really expect Fresh Prince to go down here, but it has done so by one vote.
That was my vote!
Ludicrous
At this point I have no fucking clue what will end up winning
And I put it into the tie for you.
- Just incredibly unfortunate that Fresh Prince and M:I had to meet up this early. I’d take both in a heartbeat over any other themes in this block except the Olympics, which would require some thought. And even more unfortunately, I’ll have to make that decision in the next round rather than having those three titans clear out some of the rabble. Both Fresh Prince and MI have been made into memes or reused outside of the franchise to prove their importance to pop culture. Both are perfect at what they set out to do. I ultimately went MI due to it being a more interesting instrumental composition (5/4 time, etc.) while Fresh Prince is pretty pedestrian as hip hop goes.
- Olympics in a laugher. Can’t believe the Office got as many votes as it did.
- I voted against Jeannie last time, but I can’t vote for a non-original theme at this point.
- Happy Days is like Mr. Ed in that it’s too goofy, but also, it’s very fitting. Unlike Mr. Ed, it’s not up against very strong competition this round. I don’t know if I’ll vote for it again.
- Here’s where Mr. Ed gets sent to the glue factory.
- I feel a little guilty voting against both hip hop themes in this block, but In Living Color doesn’t have enough going on for it to beat Duck Tales.
- Magnum PI is still pretty fun, and King of the Hill still doesn’t do it for me.
- Muppet Show easily. Unsolved Mysteries is a fitting theme, but it’s not something you’d think about outside of the context of the show.
Probably won’t be able to vote anymore since my face is now melted off.
After Round 2, Game of Thrones is our only single digit seed remaining. It seemed advantageous to be in the 15-40 range, or else in the 90+ range. The themes just outside of the peak of youtube views, and the stuff that just barely made it in, seem to be the strongest so far. Will that hold for which themes make it into the Sweet 16? Let’s see! We only have 2 blocks this round!
Round 3, Block 1

VS.

Round 3, Block 1
#77 Star Trek: The Next Generation

- #77 Star Trek: The Next Generation
- #20 Cowboy Bebop
Neither the theme from Fresh Prince nor the show itself has ever done anything for me.
Perhaps I’m a few years too young to appreciate it.
Round 3, Block 1
#60 The Andy Griffith Show
VS.
#101 The Jeffersons
- #60 The Andy Griffith Show
- #101 The Jeffersons
Round 3, Block 1
#117 Sesame Street
VS.
#21 The Benny Hill Show
- #117 Sesame Street
- #21 The Benny Hill Show
That’s block 1 of round 3. Two absolutely brutal matchups to close out.
Cowboy Bebop and TNG getting to wet noodle fight each other to move onto round 4 is a travesty.
Twilight Zone easy
Miami Vice better win this
Don’t really care too much X-Files over Fox I guess
Iconic Law and Order bars over racists
Brutal matchup - Munsters but it pains me
Jeffersons easy win
Sesame Street even though I’m still pissed about Hawaii-5-0
- Twilight Zone easily. Hopefully Pink Panther can finally go away now.
- Surprised Peter Gunn has done this well. I’m happy, but I’m surprised.
- X-Files barely. Both are great.
- Law and Order in a matchup that doesn’t seem worthy of round 3.
- Munsters in a brutal matchup.
- Cowboy Bebop and it’s not close.
- Jesus, why is Andy Griffith getting blown out here?
- Benny Hill in another matchup that seems more appropriate for round 2 than 3.
