Iā€™m still fascinated how Greenwald can be so close and at least semi approving of Brazilā€™s left wing, but turn around and just absolutely dump in every form on just about anyone semi left wing in America no matter the circumstances.

Like I could see it if he were some tanky accelerationist, but heā€™s not a cranky nut left loony. Like how do you identify the aristocratic land owning and business class, married to the religious nut jobs and shitty military junta wanna bes and be like yea those are bad in Brazil. And then be third on a show from a millionaire frozen food scionā€™s news show after the guy who claims Democrats are from Satan and the former military guy saying Arabs should just be blown to hell, and then go on to commiserate with the guy about how the real villains in America are Democrats.

Maybe Greenwald takes positions on Brazilian politics based on whatever pleases his husband, without caring too much about consistency.

I think itā€™s a combination of personal hatred after the Obama administration went after Assange and Snowden and him being a raging, world class narcissist, then everything follows/makes sense from there.

Reading this I was like "Man this guy is cool as a cucumber. No heated rhetoric. and I watched the video on The Intercept and yep the guy has has a soothing NPR voice

I think heā€™s always been the same racist xenophobe who originally launched his blog to whine about illegal immigrants.

Not sure what the bigger candidate is for rainbow-text treatment there, ā€œcultural issues like crime policyā€ or ā€œThe left always thinks everyone is against themā€. Like the left do their share of playing the victim, but if you can look at the last four years and claim to think that, on balance, the left whine about imaginary grievances more than the right, then idontbelieveyou.jpg.

GG is going to be a regular on The Five pretty soon, except he wonā€™t be replacing Juan Williams, heā€™ll be replacing Jesse Waters.

I donā€™t believe heā€™s that dumb. He has to be priming the pump of his new base.

I mean, have these dumb mfs never heard the phrase ā€œerring on the side of cautionā€ like holy fuck?

Like,

ā€œYou still wear masks but youā€™re probably wrong!ā€

ā€œBitch I know, itā€™s right there in the phrase! ā€˜Erringā€™!ā€

Glenn has no convictions what so ever.

He saw a spot as the token gay conservative the same way people like Michelle Malkin and Juan Williams saw their token conservative minority as a ticket to a higher salary.

Glenn, an outspoken pro-Palestinian talking head, makes most of his money going on a station where basically everybody calls Palestinians terrorists and wants a civiil war there. For a guy who spends this time claiming that liberals are the real hypocrites, he sure is quite hypocritical himself.

Glenn goes to extraordinarily lengths to never criticize the right wing in America.

He is less likely to criticize them than Mitch McConnell.

Man, I really didnā€™t appreciate until reading this thread that the time to try to stop Nazis wasnā€™t until AFTER they had already reached a critical mass of political power where theyā€™re actually murdering people, and that we shouldnā€™t do anything about them talking about murdering people in sufficiently non-specific ways to just barely escape current US legal standards. Heaven forbid they face consequences for using their speech to amass the political power necessary to achieve their goals of murdering people.

You mean some people disapprove of preemptive strikes against their enemies?

Heā€™s doing exactly what FOX loves: ā€œtaking downā€ the liberal media.

Who the fuck is gonna pay PPV for this shit?

How egotistical do you have to be to think that the shit you write for free on Twitter is worth paying to watch?

Depicting critics of liberal orthodoxies as mentally ill, rage-driven bullies, and shadows of their former selves, is a long-time tactic of guardians of establishment liberalism to expel dissidents from their in-group circles. A lengthy 2003 New Yorker smear job on Noam Chomsky

Sigh. Hold on, I underestimated how much wine I was going to need in my glass for this.

The other Intercept story I criticized was an expensive, highly produced 20-minute video, narrated by former New York Times live-blogging reporter Robert Mackey, designed to vilify numerous journalists with small right-leaning news outlets who do the work that The Intercept would never get near: namely, they report on what actually happens at Antifa protests.

Heā€™s talking about the Daily Caller here, folks.

Oh God, this is really boring. Iā€™m skimming through it pretty fast.

I got to the end. Thereā€™s very little worth excerpting, itā€™s just standard Glenn. He, Glenn, is the very avatar of independent journalism, holding the powerful to account; everyone else is corrupt or partisan or whatever.

The weirdest thing was this, where thereā€™s a quote talking about how The Intercept is a pathetic site that nobody reads:

You can see that this is in a blockquote, but itā€™s not clear where itā€™s being quoted from. In fact I didnā€™t even notice it was quoted the first time and thought I was having a stroke when, further down the piece, the same text appears again. So I guess the piece is quoting itself?

Very weird, I guess he liked this dunking so much that he wanted to run that shit back. I bet if you sifted through Glennā€™s output you could find him at some point ridiculing the idea that audience numbers signify quality or prestige.
