Glenn’s still riding his Snowden fame to give himself liberal credentials while getting conservative credentials by going on FOX News.
Solid grift.

The shit that people are saying getting batshit crazier and crazier without consequence (to their great benefit actually!) might have something to do with it. You know, stuff like openly engaging in a soft coup…
Equally countered by lobbying to force comedy clubs and tech companies to platform people they’ve voluntarily chosen not to.
People spreading libel and fraud to be precise.
My Fox-watching dad told me he subscribed to Greenwald’s and Taibbi’s substacks, so I can confirm that it’s working. Of course, I would argue that it’s good that Fox News watchers are reading Taibbi and Greenwald but what do I know.
What? Greenwald isn’t calling for Betsy Reed to be silenced or asking for her to be fired. He’s just saying her views and actions suck.
You think twitter should be no holds bar free speech and expression? Should all forums be like that channel eight?
Twitter banned me…I want my Free Speech back they have no right ban me!
I’m saying I trust unelected corporate technocrats roughly as much as would be government censors to wisely decide what views and people should be censored.
No hold bars it is then! Guess if I start a new twitter I’ll have no say over content.
What dose of reality do you think Greenwald is going to deliver them exactly? This has always been the problem with Greenwald, it’s not that what he writes is untrue exactly (although some of it is) it’s that if you read him you get an incredibly distorted picture of what the world looks like. Like really imagine trying to put together who Trump is and what his administration has been like if your only source of information was Greenwald pieces.
What a bizarre standard. The job of any one journalist isn’t to give the reader a comprehensive view of the world. All journalists have narrow interests and topics they focus on.
We’ve been on this merry-go-round 8000 times and this is such a Greenwaldian line from you, in that it’s technically true but also elides the important differences between what Greenwald does and what others do. Many journalists have specialist subjects they report on, but if they go on a more general platform, they back up and provide necessary context. Greenwald does not do this. He goes on Fox and launches straight into Bad Adam Schiff and all that shit.
The most important role of a journalist in the modern age is not to provide information, as Greenwald would have it, but to contextualise it.
I mean I agree with Greenwald that Adam Schiff is terrible and the Russiagate stuff was nonsense. So if you think that like Marcy Wheeler is doing a good job contextualizing all this stuff and Greenwald is not then agree to disagree I guess.
My position is I’m against people begging tech oligarchs to censor people and viewpoints. And I’m against the tech oligarchs doing that censorship. Why does Alex Jones need to be banned when you can just not follow him or block him?
You really need to understand the difference between government censorship and a private company closing an account. You keep making this fundamental error over and over again.
If they want to censor nudity or profanity or whatever that’s fine. And of course banning behavior like harassment or threats is fine. I don’t think they should censor any viewpoints or positions.
OK, what’s the difference between government censorship and private corporate censorship?
Of course twitter is like a public square. And it’s obviously a natural monopoly. Which is why it’s important, no one cares if someone is censored on UP, but it’s important if twitter or facebook systematically censors people or viewpoints.
lol, “certain views.” Those are called lies and liars, bud.
So censorship only matters when the platform is sufficiently large. Thus, shouldn’t we regulate the ones that are?
“If a platform gets big enough we should let it be a gigantic free for all where anything goes” seems like the worst approach possible.
But but what’s the difference between a lie and the truth.
