930 is super late. I met up with my cousin, who is my age but havenāt seen in twenty years, and we both share an early bedtime. I want to go to bed at 8pm. So old.
I need my sleep. During the week I get up at 530.
Iām normally sleeping like midnight to 7am. Yesterday was just more old man than normal.
Been a morning person since I was a wee toddler. Neighbors used to hate me because Iād be out at 7AM on Sunday cruising around the neighborhood on my Big Wheel banging on still-sleeping neighborsā doors asking if my still-sleeping friends could come out to play.
Nothingās changed. Usually collapse exhausted in bed by 10:30 and wake up 5:30 - 6:00. Never need an alarm clock.
And must have been Spanish in my previous life because canāt go without my afternoon siestas.
Iām in bed by 9PM, up at 4:30 - 5:00. Sometimes earlier - my sleep can be funky.
I used to have a lot of trouble sleeping, but now I can easily go down at 10:30 and stay asleep for twelve or more hours. Must be the meds Iām on. They also give me incredibly vivid dreams.
Thatās how I knew antidepressants worked. Waking up soaked with sweat wasnāt worth it though.
Ok Boomer
Pretty sure that most things that alter your CNS will cause vivid dreams for a while the brain adjusts, including things like quitting nicotine.
How much of a problem is it that my typical sleep recently is along the lines of 5am to 10am? How are people getting 8 hours?
Ever since I got my bipap I can get my hours in easy. I had a period of a few months where I was unknowingly sick and I couldnāt sleep much at all. I was a walking zombie.
For me all my upper Respitory issues and sleep are directly linked. I have to get my sleep or I will get sick.
Do you nap?
Combine that with a 2ish hr late afternoon nap and you might be OK.
Not on a regular basis. Itās 4-5 hours most nights and occasionally a bit longer on days that I rest.
I think more sleep would be in your best interest.
I assume you donāt have a day job or kids. Getting your sleep sorted should be super easy compared to a lot of people.
I have a very strong problem with my inability to stop thinking about everything. I basically need to make myself too tired to think to get sleep.
You might want to consider some professional help. Unfortunately, I think getting insurance to cover some sleep disorders is not that easy.
Iāve basically given up on the idea of getting professional help for a bunch of things.
I have become a sleep apnea / CPAP evangelist. Changed/saved my life. Most people on this forum should probably get checked. You can do it for less than $200 without even getting a doctor involved.
