The first 5 picks were all clearly GTO and I would have picked any of the 5 if they were still on the board. I am going to deviate from the trend.
There are 2 players who for sure have a higher expected value than my pick, but one has a scheduling issue and is somewhat of a bitch. The other one, well, a man must have a code I suppose.
So after much deliberation I opted for a slow, somewhat chubby, a bit whiny, white European.
- There’s a built-in added value to picking a top current player in this format.
- At age 18 he was the MVP of the EuroLeague. At 19 he was RoY. At 20 he’s a legit MVP candidate in a world without freaks.
- Gambol
- It keeps the All-White team hope alive.

LeBron and Steph’s time frames don’t literally overlap but it’s obviously simple to look at them in that way.
I was considering Luka over Shaq as I think his value over the next current player is so high. Whereas the drop from Shaq to Curry/other undradteds isn’t as great. Ultimately, though, decided that injury risk is too high (nothing about Luka in particular, just that when looking at the greats for this draft, for many it’s hard to find a five year stretch without at least one injured season).
Particular to Luka: He’s built like a guy who won’t get injured and moves at a speed that makes it unlikely too.
A little body fat is good for you.

The slow speed that accompanies it is the downside, usually great footwork tho.
Wow I thought I was going to get mocked for my pick, glad people thought it was solid. I was trying to think of a good current player and somehow never came to Luka, nice pick there.
