From NBA Live '95 to 2K20: An Unstuck 5 Year NBA Dynasty Draft

Indeed

Stretching the court with his insane range, good point, forgot to add that.

So many stretches. All of them.

I like the pick, honestly. These drafts need creativity otherwise they become sorting exercises.

Go @Fossilkid93 !!!

PICKS!

Good picking so far. I almost wanted to hate on the Shaq pick because I don’t know how he fits in today’s game. But he was such an insane specimen that I don’t think era really matters much.

That’s how I used to feel but he was an insanely good passer and while I don’t know if he would ever be a good shooter, he’d still be a near automatic 2 points in the paint today. He was so athletic that I think he would be able to figure it out even if maybe he wouldn’t be quite as dominant.

I feel as though Shaq would be exploited by modern coaching somehow. Still trying to figure out how.

Can’t exploit this

Modern coaching can exploit him if they have the right personnel. The problem is that, for the most obvious exploitative strategy, you need bigs who can defend him well enough to not require the aid of consistent double-teaming while having offensive skills that don’t play into Shaq’s defensive strengths. And that probably just makes him less effective rather than completely unplayable.

I was also thinking of running a very fast paced offense, fouling strategically a lot, and other stuff.

My first answer is ball movement, 13/14 Spurs or GS would find open 3s all day with simply setting a pick up top and going from there.

But your idea is good too.

The thought of Shaq surrounded by today’s style (w/ the spacing it provides) and shooters is an omg on offense tho. Shaq was always a great post passer, in Orlando he was setting up Dennis Scott like it was the modern era.

The easiest way to imagine Shaq in the modern game is being more effective somehow.

He benefits from space more than great shooters do, what with inverted gravity and all.

Are we moving on?

Yep. I pm’d him yesterday at 2p2 also.

@mjiggy is up.

I assume that I’m suffering from recency bias and this wasn’t the player I initially wanted. However, his best five consecutive seasons appear to be on par with anyone in our selected time frame, so with the 5th(?) pick, I’m just going to take possibly the most dangerous shooter of all time with 2013 Steph Curry. Don’t really have to worry about building my team in a way that fits him since a 40%+ 3-pt shooter and great passer goes well anywhere.

@Yuv is up, I think.

Yep, you can build your team however. Another great anchor.

If you’re skipped, you’re free to jump in and pick at any time. @bode

This would have been mine

Yeah I had 2013 Steph next on my big board.

Now I don’t even know who I’m gonna take because we start at 1995 I can’t even take Bird or Magic or even Talk Show Host Magic I don’t think
