There’s really 3:2 in the pits.
MGM used to have $25 tables and 3:2 with a surrender. Has that pretty much gone the way of the Dodo? I haven’t played much BJ my last few trips, and usually there’s no table selection involved so it’s lol 6:5. I will pretty much avoid 6:5 but sometimes I get bored enough to do it but never for more than a $10 minimum. But I will play $25/hand or more at 3:2 if I can find it. I’ve never ventured into a high limit room but might take $500 in there some day if they have that format.
Although for pure pit degening you can’t beat craps.
Wow, ok, 3:2 v 6:5 … I didn’t realize this had changed. WTF. This is common, for blackjack to pay less than 1.5x? I’m really shocked.
The majority of tables on the strip are 6:5. You have to play high limit to get double deck, surrender 3:2.
The only casinos I’ve been in so far this trip are Park and Aria. Both had $25 6 deck shoe 3:2 BJ in the pit. Both had $100 double deck 3:2 with surrender in high limit. Last time I was here Harrah’s had that same double deck at $25 a hand.
Mask compliance is literally 100% inside casinos, and most people are wearing them correctly and not complaining. Is this what it’s like living in a blue / coastal state? By far the strangest part of the trip.
The line for Starbucks. Nature is healing.
Vegas prices are still insane
Yes, as long as you’re not in a restaurant.
In my experience, table games that had plexiglass dividers that included the front “sneeze guard” type pane (vs. just having two side panes dividing the players) were almost unplayable. With masks + the front plexi, communication with dealers and others at the table was almost impossible. Curious to hear OP’s thoughts.
This seems fine tbh. Everything’s a little muffled but I’ve been talking to French bulldogs for a year while I play fifa and dota
Game went from 7 to 3 handed but I doubled up 3 handed. Button opened 35. I have KK66 in SB and pot. He flats. Flop is 68Q 2 diamonds. I pot. He puts me AI. We run twice. I make Kings full on first board and naked set is good on second. Looked like he had gutter and FD.
Since we are 3 handed they just let us not pay time this down. Unraked poker ftw
short handed PLO is more fun, anyway
6 max unraked and I might fall over
Not only that, but when 6:5 first came out, the casinos put it on their marquees: “Now offering 6:5 Blackjack!” assuming, correctly, that the majority of people would see bigger numbers and assume it was better than 3:2.
I specifically remember the Bally’s marquee advertising it.
Game broke but we have logged a live poker session for the first time in a year!
Currently:
+1600 on VP
+1K on BJ
+787 on PLO
The 1/2 PLO looks amazing. Drooler central.
I’ve made more money at 1/2 PLO in Vegas than 5/5. It’s basically how NLHE was 15 years ago. Just don’t try to hand read
LOL I’ll never forget the time I went from my $500 buyin to $2200 (maybe $2500? fuck i’m old) on my first hand after sitting down at a 1/2/5 table at the Rio during the WSOP one year.
Hand history?
omg absolutely bonkers. This was a few years back, so forgive the vagueness on the bet sizing. Also, suits don’t matter in this hand, there was no flush possibility.
As I walk to the table I know it’s gonna be good. It was a party table. everyone laughing, a couple of drunk guys, etc.
Anyway, I’m literally still standing when I get dealt AAxx in the cutoff. $500 effective stack (mine because i just bought in and these guys all had me covered)
UTG raises to $15 without looking at his cards. Not “oh haha i didn’t look”, he truly didn’t because they were still laying where the dealer pitched them.
4 callers between, then I pot.
Button cold calls, and all 5 of the rest call. LOL, guess I’m all in next street!
Flop is some literal trash like K92r
UTG bets something stupid like $100 into an over $500 pot
They all call, I shove, button folds (lmao) UTG calls, 1 of the MP people folds, the rest call.
Turn 7 they all check (HAHAHA)
River pairs the 2 so i’m a little worried but they all check
AA holds.
Me: WTF
Them: HAHAHA SHOTS!
Brush: Andi for 5/5 BigO!
Me: No thanks, I’ll stay right here
2 hours later
Me: cashes out for $3800
I should add for flavor that this was the first hand of cash I played upon arriving at the WSOP that year. Also, I should have only played cash because yikes, tourneys sucked.
I must be the unluckiest PLO player ever, but I have still made a profit from it and I ain’t that good either lol.
But our city loves the game, it’s the craziest game around that the boys decided that 4 cards ain’t good enough so 5 & 6 card PLO is there preferred game.
