You got me…WTF

I’m guessing candy hall of fame didn’t exist until 2008, having trouble finding a lot of history of candy hall of fame

Reese’s Fast Break is the GOAT candy bar

They make great candies in general, and poverty as a child drove me to discover the gluttony of a full jar of peanut butter and a full bottle of chocolate syrup

I taught an intro class on this as a grad student at the local extension of the University. I thought the text the department chose was lousy and the class didn’t go nearly deep enough. Amazon.com The class could have definitely been better, but that would have required a lot of work (or the sort not really appropriate for a one-off grad student class) and made the class a lot harder (like start with Plato and Aristotle, then Bacon, Hobbes, Descartes, Locke, etc.)

I think the class was a broad into requirement for a lot of majors, like business, that helps keeps philosophy departments going, so they didn’t want it too difficult.

I used the same text! I supplemented it heavily with articles. I loved teaching that course. I might have stayed in academia had I shifted to a philosophy of science and critical thinking track.

And nougat and caramel don’t bring a ton to the table.

Half agree. Fuck nougat, mysterious filler ingredient been freeloading off the success of chocolate for years.

Caramel otoh, is good depending on context. Without caramel, snickers icecream bar would be absolute shit. Werthers Original Caramel? Complete garbage, only people that think they are special is because they lived through the depression and they thought anythjng was special that didn’t involve an iron lung or working 18-hour days full of manual labor.

Caramel is profoundly underrated, specifically due to terrible candy caramel. I used to think I didn’t like either caramel or cheesecake because I’d only been exposed to mediocre versions, but then you eat good versions and it’s like “Holy shit, what the fuck am I eating and how is it this good!”

Why is Katie Hill resigning?

If you’re a victim, fight. You have way more resources, support and visibility than basically any other person. If this is all just your abusive ex husband, expose him. Sue people.

I want to support her but I suspect her conduct is far worse than she’s letting on, and that she’s been lying a lot.

Affairs with staffers are a yuge no-no. Just one is enough to be resignation-worthy and apparently she has two since like last year or something.

And I agree there’s something worse out there.

I would have preferred for her not to resign, but mostly because I value her seat more than I value caring about her personal life. People with scandals should just not run for re-election IMO. I was annoyed by Franken resigning as well.

The other side has nothing close to purity on these issues, and I don’t see them winning elections for us. I’ve felt that talking about the sex lives of politicians should go back to being off the table for the media and talking about money should go back on. I don’t care who you’re fucking (although please don’t fuck subordinates, that’s obviously very bad for all the reasons it’s bad in every other field) but I care a great deal about who pays you, how much they pay you, and why.

Yeah, unless she’s 100% innocent and didn’t have an affair with a staffer, she’s gotta go.

Duncan Hunter is of course orders of magnitude worse in this regard, but nothing matters if you’re a Republican.

Twix and butterfingers overrated, starburst underrated.

So seems there was more to it potentially. If this is true she is not resigning because of affairs but instead to take the power away from her jealous husband who apparently was determined to release sex videos of them.
