Lol, SoftBank gives Adam Neumann $1.7 billion to go away. Don’t chase losses!
Separately, every single new piece of information about Facebook makes me hate them more. What an evil company. Notably, appears Sheryl Sandberg LEANS IN to being a total fraud and massive POS.
Man it seems like my lonely hearts club thread actually was a good idea. Also, thinking about it, it seems like I know a shitload of people irl who were cheated on.
@All-InFlynn Of the Culture series of books, which would you recommend for a female reader who is basically a professional reader but doesn’t have a particular interest in science fiction? I’m thinking Inversions or State of the Art.
I actually wonder how much of our current political crisis was set up by TV shows like 24, for example. I used to love the show, and now I feel bad about it… Like the premise is that we just need to let these heroic strong guys act outside the law to get the job done because it saves lives, and it’s all fun and games in a TV show and in a world where the people doing all the bad stuff for good reasons are morally strong and truly just saving innocent lives and only torturing the bad guys… But then we see the same thing in a bunch of cop shows. They teach us that it’s okay to rough up the bad guys, as long as it’s truly a good guy doing it.
And then we wonder why so many people are okay with ICE aggressively rounding people up and throwing them in hieleras, or cops executing unarmed people. I mean, shit, Jack Bauer would do it. Detective Stabler would do it. What’s the problem?
I feel like some of you are confused about how strip clubs work in Bangkok.
You see when a man and a stripper, or a woman and a stripper, or a couple and a stripper like each other very much, they may often:
[x] Pay her “bar fine” to leave with her. Generally about 400 bhat, or $12.
[ ] Murder said stripper, stuff her into a suit case and go on the run.
[ ] Hang themselves in an act of sexual release.
Suicide was a problem at MIT for decades. They tried various ways to address the problem; not sure how successfully. Generally, grad students are a pretty miserable lot. I was in a grad student therapy group and heard a lot of stories of harassment and abuse. After my experience, I mostly agree with Freeman Dyson, who says the PhD system is evil and has ruined many lives.
