What grip are you using for deadlifts? Double overhand? Alternate?
To get my deadlift grip up, I would do double overhand grip for warm up sets until it was too heavy, then alternate grip for a penultimate weight, and then straps for max weight. As I’d progress on max weight, so would the warm ups, and then also the weight I’d be gripping.
For $20/mo you get a membership in all Planet Fitnesses and there are a lot of them. It’s where a lot of people who live in their vehicles go to shower.
due to fears of unspecified threats of violence from groups who planned to protest the inclusion of Confederate groups.
lol fuck off, NBC News. They’re cancelling the parade because they’re afraid a Nazi might drive a car into protestors again and NBC News wants to frame this as protestors being violent. Fucking police stenographers.
Double overhand until it gets up to a certain weight (don’t recall exactly but probably in the 250-300 range), then I have to use alternate. I’ve never used straps. For Stronglifts I’ve never really used gloves, either, since it’s 1x5 for the deadlifts. If I’m doing multiple sets of a lot of weight, or going for a 1RM, I’ll use gloves.
I have small hands, so it’s probably always going to be my weak point. I can squat more than I can deadlift, and I think grip strength is probably a big part of it. The last time I did stronglifts for a few months, I was squatting 285 for reps and deadlifting 275 for reps, but there was a pretty big gap between the two on my one rep max.
Is the no free weight thing new? I use to belong there after I graduated college because it was only $10. I got the lunk alarm rang on me after I racked my squat bar with three plates on it just normally. I guess it made slightly too much noise. Lol that place.
I highly recommend getting some straps then. They are much better than gloves, and they’ll let you pull according to your posterior chain strength rather than grip strength. Is it hard to set up a “MrWookie recommends” amazon ad thing here so this site can get a cut?
I also use double overhand when deadlifting but use a hook grip (thumb underneath) which adds some extra weight to your grip change-over point. My gym routine has been shit the past few months couple years so I haven’t had to use alternating, but I think I used to get up into the mid-300s before I had to switch grips.
Late edit: should also add that I use Liquid Grip (liquid chalk, basically) which helps as well since my hands are normally sweaty and slick
Package deal is 26$ for 10 visits. Still overly expensive. Orange doesn’t let you just use the stuff you have to go to a class which sound like a HIT circuit workout you do with other people. It’s 60/4, 100/8 or 160/unlimited classes a month.
Hello Facebook friend, for my birthday this year I’d like you to give some 3rd party money and your personal contact info - so they and everyone they sell your name to can spam you for literally the rest of your life.
I still get mail from one donation to the world wildlife fund in 1987.
While we wait for ChrisV to wake up and dig into this more deeply for us, I’m going to assume it’s some kind of homeopathic BS that has a tiny amount of bleach.
