I love that episode so much, it had me in tears.
Of course the fucking nazi hates an interspecies couple.
Agreed. Chapelle presented his own version of this in his Hollywood special that was, well
Did anyone bring up virtue ethics? How do you think I would solve the trolley problem?
A few did, but it’s a much tougher essay to write. Aristotelian virtue ethics (the only version we studied) isn’t especially action guiding. It can tell you what kind of person to be, but isn’t able (or interested) in telling you what to do in a specific situation.
My understanding of Aristotelian virtue ethics: find a virtuous guy – fuck it if you have any clue how he became virtuous – and do as he does.
I think you would pull the lever back and forth until it broke
I think your resolution is to go on the internet and call for an unspecified but violent demise for the person who put the trolley on the tracks in the first place.
My impromptu essay on the trolley problem would be shrugging ascii guy, how would that go over?
I lean towards the idea that both options are equally permissible in the trolley problem and denying that one has to be more ethical than the other. It’s possible that I might continually change my mind, pulling the lever back and forth until it broke. Or, like Buridan’s ass, I would be stuck between the two possibilities, effectively doing nothing because I can’t decide on whether to do something.
That’s what I was trying to imply; I was going to say you’d flip a coin but flicking it back and forth was a better image. You’d randomize in case a spy was looking at you over the ridge trying to get a read on you for future trolley problems.
Is it possible to derail the trolley and sacrifice yourself?
Maybe my understanding is skewed from living where ‘jaywalking’ is perfectly normal, but if they really did not account for pedestrians crossing anywhere other than designated spots then someone should be up for manslaughter, shouldn’t they? I won’t hold my breath, though.
Trying to think of a sex scene where the movie would have suffered narratively or aesthetically if it weren’t included, or if it only suggested nudity without showing it. There probably is one - there’s an awful lot of movies - but nothing’s jumping out at me.
It’s old but a classic - Don’t Look Now.
Also another Roeg film, about sexual obsession - Bad Timing.
Trumpers are going to love that. Definitely gonna go massively viral and be on Fox News about Antifa horribly harassing a WW2 veteran for loving the president and not show the part about shooting them
The guy is an absolute loser.
and when they do demostrate you call them communists and want to shot them … I’m confused.
Has that guy been invited to the White House yet?
