After the shitshow of the SFA in scotland for year on year culminating in relegating 2 clubs who never got the chance to finish the league was dispiriting to say the least, the quicker were out their grasp the better imo.

The uefa cup 25 years ago was solely for those who won the league and a straight KO. It became prestigious when more teams were let in and more money came to those who were allowed in.
People have talked about history here, the Champions league has very little. There are already multiple qualifying rounds for âsmallerâ leagues like Scotland, Norway etc. Uefa literally proposed 2 CL spots today for the highest ranked teams who donât make it. Aka Arsenal as it stands.

We all agree that the decline began with the PL and continued with the CL (many of the group stage games are irrelevant), but thatâs no reason to throw your hands in the air and say âWhy not run it into the ground?â.

Yes, which has basically nothing in common with the current day CL.
Itâs obviously gross these clubs are trying a money grab while fans arenât allowed in the stands to object. Thatâs cynical and disgusting. But, everything about modern football already is.
