But a study author said that the patients placed on a ventilator would have died without that intervention, and that COVID-19 is still the primary cause of death.

Without going to medical school I’m going to guess that the risk of respiratory infection is a well known risk of going on a ventilator and if your body is struggling fighting COVID you’re less likely to be able to fight it off but it’s a known risk of a last ditch effort.

Since it was endorsed by Elon, I didn’t put too much stock in the “fact-checked” story. Looking closer, it turns out that Sean Adl-Tabatabai character has a background in misinformation.
