Elon Musk 3: Too uncool for pedo island

I’ve got one. Recently had a reunion with kids from my middle school. The women all had stories about the same teacher getting handsy and doing inappropriate shit. He was my sixth grade teacher too. I had no idea.

John the barber went away for a little while on vacation. Turns out he got in trouble for doing some molesting. Parents kept taking me there for haircuts after he came back.

Jesus Christ. Now I feel less bad about being a helicopter parent. These stories remind of me of all the wikipedia pages of serial killers where they were getting 1 year sentences for violent rapes in the 60’s and 70’s.

I’ve got two

First one. My brother (at the time when everyone still though he was a girl) had a female friend who suddenly came to live with us for a couple of months.

I was kept out of the loop but it all felt very very serious. From a few hints and bits and pieces it was pretty obvious she was being assaulted at home.

Second one. Less bad.

My parents took in a house guest from my mom’s work who they took in for a few weeks. He was broke. Homeless. Having a tough time.

I’m 14 or 15 at the time. I think it was just the two of us at home. He’s out on the back veranda. (We were on a big rural property). I’m in my room. He calls me out there and talks to me about something. Somehow he “accidentally” flashes me his dick (it was a while ago, I don’t remember all the details), Im weirded out and go back inside. That’s it.

Oddly I never felt unsafe, as I was about the same size as I am now, but after a few years of hindsight I realised quite how creepy that was.

So. Two sides of the same coin of my parents taking in strays.

Yeah there’s a reason my generation are helicopter parents.

I think there was a music teacher when I was in grade school who ended up getting put away for something child related. It’s not like they told us stuff back then and could have been a rumor but I don’t remember sexuality being joked about like until later in Jr high or High school. Ta Ta Tee Tee Ta…

I only went on BBSes to download shareware games.

But…in high school, my best friend (I think I told this story before) had a neighbor who ran a porn BBS. Pics, not chat rooms. Guy was a little older than us, either still in high school or college age. Russian, not that it matters, but just so you can imagine the accent when we talked to him.

Nice enough guy when I met him. He asked if we wanted to see his BBS setup. We’re high school guys, so of course we said yes. It was just computer in the basement of his suburban house. Completely underwhelming. He showed us all the files he had and what-not and then told us we could have free premium access to the BBS. At this point, we were kind of creeped out so we were basically like:

The name of the BBS was “Jimbo’s BBS,” but he changed it to “Cherry Pie BBS” to make it sound more porny.

That’s fucking wild.

Turned out my freshman algebra teacher was a child sexual molester/abuser with high school students. I never heard anything about it until 2018, when the allegations surfaced and he killed himself. He was at the school from 1958 to 1991 - I must’ve been his last class. A former student sued the school district not long after the guy offed himself, saying the school knew of allegations back in the early 80’s and did nothing about it.

Just crazy that I had no idea and I don’t think my classmates did, either. Maybe he wasn’t doing any of it by that point. He was just a quiet, boring, decent math teacher. Like really a nothing guy in the classroom. Only thing I really remember about the class was that I enjoyed the national math competitions we did every month.

This is the first I’m hearing about Gen X’s upbringing being especially molesty. It kinda sounds like all those threads on Reddit about how tough it was to be a Millennial growing up.

However, my tale begins in second grade when I get put in the slow reading group in a public school. My mother, a teacher, knew that that ain’t right, so my parents get me into an Episcopalian school starting in third. Sometime later, maybe fifth grade, we’re having a music class with the choir director in the upstairs of the church. He’s checking our breathing by having us sing and he starts with his hand on our stomachs. In short order, his hand is in the pants fondling the twins. I remember catching the eye of a friend while he was doing it to me and we both thought that something was wrong, but weren’t sure. Shortly after he was busted. I remember on the day it happened seeing his son, who was a year behind me, looking so devastated. That was the last time he was at the school. Luckily this event had next to zero effect on me as I forgot it for years.

The richest man in the world posted about how the white race was under threat, made allusions to race science or promoted anti-immigrant conspiracy content on 26 out of 31 days in January

When he did the “salute” at that rally, there was, of course, discussion about it on my Facebook feed. My old grad school friend - she was my best in-school friend and we became good friends outside of class, but haven’t really been in touch aside from Happy Birthday posts - said that it wasn’t a nazi salute.

I argued that it clearly was and she said that he’s not a white supremacist. I retorted that based on his history of social media posting, it’s pretty obvious that he is. She countered with something like, “I just married a Jewish guy and his family loves Elon and said it wasn’t a nazi salute.”

I stopped arguing right there. I wonder if she’s noticed what Elon’s been doing since.

A couple more months of this and the, “Why Did It Take Us So Long To Realize Trump Is Racist?” op-ed pieces can pivot to asking that about Elon.

What the fuck kind of argument is that? What’s her response to “I am a Jewish guy and it was”?

I just stopped. It was no use.

If she knows you’re Jewish, then it ought to have been implied.

My stepmom said she’s seen lots of freeze frames that make things seem to be nefarious that are completely innocent and I asked her if she believed in heaven and hell. She nodded yes and I told her she’s going to hell when she dies.

Same stupid argument someone I know used. Haven’t seen him since as he is a colleague of a friend but I wonder what stupid arguments he has now to defend Trump and Musk. The guy is Indian and a prime example of the I got mine, fuck you crowd.
