The only thing we need the house to not do in the next 2 years is not default on the debt limit. Investigations and no other legislation is a given. For purposes of not defaulting on the debt ceiling, Cheney is probably perfect.

If we lose the House, I’d swallow it assuming it’s a reasonable person and Dems get something tangible in the process (doesn’t have to be a big thing necessarily).

I would take it for the LOLs. If it’s 218-217, then Dems can just pick any republican they want and make that person speaker. That person just votes for themselves + 217 Dems = speaker.
Just pick whoever would rustle McCarthy the most.
