Re: why NY is not a harbinger for CA, NY passed a really unpopular bail reform law that Zeldin tied around Hochuls neck and which dragged down every other dem. It’s all that has been in all the ads at every level. The law was the worst of all worlds in typical Edem fashion on the one hand, it didn’t actually get rid of cash bail, so the system is still stacked in favor of the wealthy who can afford bail so progressives don’t love it. On the other hand, it didn’t follow the model of other states that have enacted progressive bail reform laws because it removed the ability of courts to consider dangerousness no matter how bad a persons criminal record was. The result was a perfect edem shit sandwich Where everyone hates it for different reasons. Rich people still get catered to and there have been a ton of high profile releases that have reoffended violently.

Been mostly not following this too close but fuck yeah Michigan. Yes on voting rights, abortion, and term limits and transparency for legislators.
Am I crazy for thinking that even if we lose the house and Senate that just the margins are a good sign. Inflation is through the fucking roof, our economy is headed in the wrong direction, and our president is 80 years and clearly in decline. It’s an environment where we should get curb stomped but somehow it’s close. I’ll take it. Fuck that other thread.
