best advice is to just enjoy it the way you want to enjoy it. there’s no real limitations other than not being able to respec until you beat the second zone’s boss (who is fortunately quite easy) but this can feel pretty deep in the game depending on the pace you take.
samurai is definitely notable because you start out with a bleed katana and you can get the same one in the first zone, allowing you to dual wield bleed, which I recommend against because it makes the early part dangerously cheesy.
i ended up liking souls more than this game, unfortunately, not because it isn’t good or better (it’s way better) but because of my personality it was far too easy to make the game trivial, and about halfway through i was far too powerful and got bored. dont be like me
You can use it very early game to a decent extent, but seems later there are too many bad guys in each area plus lots of ones that you can’t ever sneak up on.
Yeah I tried sneaking early without much success. I used it if I wanted to avoid a fight sometimes (although just running away, especially on horseback was more common), and you might be thoughtful to avoid multiway gangbangs by killing one dood at a time, but stealth is worthless in boss fights. The most important thing to learn in the early game is to roll towards attacks and the counterattack aggressively when you come out of the roll.
I’m actually using stealth a fair bit to do things like sneak around the back of encampments and take enemies out one by one. I also got a meteorite staff and some decent spells, which is allowing me to make progress with stronger enemies.
Did anyone else in here get bored and quit the game? I cleared out Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula then made my way through Stormveil Castle. Started working north of the castle then began to find everything very repetitive.
It’s the only souls game I’ve played. Before playing I thought the difficulty would chase me away but I was fine with it. The problem was exploring yet another dungeon that looks the same as all the previous dungeons.
Maybe if there was more of a narrative, that would have kept my interest. Also, you can create all of these consumables but there is no way to use them on the fly in a boss battle when you need them most.
I’ve been away from it for a couple of months. As summer winds down maybe I’ll break it out again. I really enjoyed the game at first but it couldn’t sustain my interest.
Yeah, I put consumables in the same slot as flasks, so you can rotate through flasks to relevant consumables for use, even during a boss fight. Of particular note are sleep pots and bewitching branches for certain boss fights.
I beat Margit today. I know it’s lol early game, but it still feels like an achievement. As someone who has never played a souls game before, I’ve got to say this title is really amazing.
Nah, that’s worth being proud of. Margit is one of the hardest bosses, especially for a player new to Souls games. I found him quite a bit tougher than the next few major bosses.
lack of narratives on purpose, you’re supposed to get curious and figure out the story on your own, but I frequently blast through games that painstakingly lay out the story for me, so this was never likely to happen
