Douchebag 2.0—an Elon Musk company

Going to pick up a car from one of their “vending machines” here in a couple hours. I applied through Carvana and was quoted 7.7% a couple weeks ago. I got 3.5% though my credit union so I went with them. No idea why there was such a big difference. I assume it’s because the CU did a much more thorough check (asked for pay stubs, etc plus I have an established relationship with them). But times are weird now so who knows. Chase denied me altogether on a dealership Web site just last week, meanwhile I just paid off a 1.9 apr loan on a new car I’d bought back in 2017 so :man_shrugging:. I think one of the bureaus has a fraud alert on my account which is screwing me up.

There is more to health and fitness than not being fat. There may be a lot of dubious practices and people who take things way too far, but you should be putting at least some consideration into how you fuel your body.

I’m not sure how reliability is calculated. Ill report back if I figure it out. But to follow up on your other point, Tesla is the highest rated in owner satisfaction on CR.

oops was responding to @Coasterbrad

that’s why they’re not fat.

Consumer Reports and J.D. Power. I mean it’s not like I’m making a novel claim here. The problems with the build quality are known and have been written about a lot.

I can’t think of another nearly $50k car that is notorious for issues like bad panel alignment or any of the other problems that Teslas are known for. That is not the level of build quality I’d be looking for in an automobile, and especially not at the price of a premium luxury car.

So Consumer Reports is faking the reliability data to harm Tesla but reporting favorable consumer satisfaction ratings that are real?

I definitely never made that claim? The data they decide to use can lead to flawed or misleading results without being fake. When it comes to reliability I’d much rather have an issue with a paint chip than with an engine belt, and oil leak, a transmission failure, etc. When minor delivery issues are lumped in with actual reliabilty issues, the resulting “data” is not very useful.

ETA: now that you mention that though it’s not like that would be impossible. A survey of people asking “are you satisfied” is going to be hard to manipulate. If a company that was funded in part by a legacy auto maker like Ford (ConsumerReport, for example) wanted to balance that out with a negative ranking for Tesla, lumping cosmetic issues in with actual issues could get the job done. Again though, that was not my claim or purpose of my comments.

A customer survey of Branch Elonian cultists is going to be crazy unreliable.

Of interest, CR has the Tesla models that ranked lowest on “reliabilty” ranked highest on their customer satisfaction list

Hmmmmm

This isn’t true. They rarely go wrong. Which is good because yes they are shit if there is an issue.

You said this in response to a post about “veiled anti-Tesla stuff” which was in response to me claiming low reliability ratings. Do you believe that Consumer Reports is getting paid off to give Tesla negative reliability ratings?

Seriously though it sounds like you’re wandering off into conspiracy theory land here.

They aren’t “lumping cosmetic issues in with actual issues.” Paint defects aren’t weighted as heavily as major engine failures. The most probable state of reality by far is that Tesla is a relatively new car company with subpar reliability, and the people who own them like them. That is what both CR and JD Power find (also consumer report group Which? in the UK).

Elon has the strongest “discovered weed at 45” vibes I’ve seen
