I think it’s actually that he realizes he made a huge mistake buying twitter, knows it’s going to fail under his leadership, and is simply building a story he can use as an excuse going forward as to why it failed.

Oh, my comment was in reference to GG, not Elon.

idk, you can learn a lot about how comedy writers punch up bad material.

I mean, the premise that King is dead for years already is solid, but that punchline w.r.t. his Twitter account is crap. I wonder what the Onion had made of it.

I mean, I feel you. But if your argument is “don’t punch down and also be succinct” then maybe don’t make a 30 tweet thread about the Babylon Bee.

“be succinct” is advice for the joke itself, not for an explanation on how to craft a joke

Three IS a funnier number than two or four! Verified by thinking about it.

tough crowd imo

Is Babylon Bee making fun of Stephen King really considered punching down?

I hate how sugar sodas taste. I drink sugar free sodas and recently ran out. Only had regular soda (or water yuck , nah I drink a lot of water) and I feel like my tongue is coated in sugar paste.

In this context, “punch up” means to rework material to make it funnier.

It’s a picture of Jman…l
