Places like r/nba and r/nfl have a lot of top posts that are tweets.
Imagine removing a fairly quick and fairly easy way to authentic tweets when browsing. That would be crazy. I can’t believe any person spent more than two minutes on this ridiculous idea.

The real problem isn’t people impersonating Joe Biden in obviously fake ways so much as it is people pretending to be minor news outlets or officials. For $8 you can make it seem like you are a legit local news outlet and it may not be immediately obvious to people that it’s fake.

Do we know anything about the previous verification process? If I had to guess it was probably pretty labor intensive (and therefore a “cost”) and annoying.
