Douchebag 2.0—an Elon Musk company

I can hardly wait to see his plan to sell tickets to Mars.

I am trying to start a digital rebellion - passive resistance where you do stuff to fuck with their algorithms that try to sell you stuff. For a long time I was like “whatever, I like the stuff they sell me sometimes” but now I’m full blown convinced the only way it will get better is if consumers start fucking with them so bad they’re forced to change. People just genuinely have no idea how hard they are farmed.

the hashtag is #trollthealgorithm

This is basically how Tesla works isn’t it? “You guys are going to buy whatever I give you, so shut up.”

Elon just ignored the fact that the checkmark is used outside of Twitter.

At least he has conclusively proven you can have too much money.

This feature would be horrible if it applied to your feed, but maybe actually good if it applies to replies? I don’t know exactly what algo they use to sort replies, but it’s not reverse chronological and it’s also not good. Reverse chronological top-level posts with Reddit-style sorted replies would be pretty good.

I can’t imagine paying $100 a year for Twitter, but that’s because I’m a random. Serious posters on Twitter are basically always doing it for business reasons, and they’ll absolutely pay for better visibility. And as a user, it’s not so obvious that I don’t want to see replies from serious posters promoted over randos firing off angry takes.

Or he is a really savvy businessman and his whole idea is based on the fact that people will blow $8 to make silly goofs on Twitter.

Robbins is a monster

Btw that was twitter supports first tweet in 10 days.

Yes. And even worse the algorithm is going to make them even more likely to be seen.

Just scrolling through my feed I saw multiple joke tweets. And because it is still a bit novel they get a lot of hearts and retweets which amplifies their reach.

No, Tesla uses the “Pay us now for this feature we’ll release Soon™” and then not releasing the feature for years, if ever model.

My SIL pays some obnoxious subscription fee. And now she is realizing what an ass Musk is and it’s chapping her to have to send him money. She was so proud of that thing at first.

Guaranteed suckage all around, but PMs prob hating their life even more. This is like shitting all over the basics of the profession.

The Theranos model then

Seems good, actually.

I just saw a blurb that a Twitter Lawyer said Elon may have opened up the company to billions in fines.

BUT, I don’t know if it means a lawyer from twitter or a lawyer on twitter, or someone pretending to be a lawyer for twitter on twitter.
