The court can’t do anything to stop him because if they did, he would call on his loyal supporters to commit violence in response.
Imagine if an actual mafia boss was charged with crimes. You’d have to just drop all charges immediately and let him go. Probably apologize to him personally, hire a limo and send him home.

yeah yall are nuts. primary voters skew super-heavy to extremists and deplorability. They may find trump distasteful but they want them tax cuts and they’re convinced that joe biden is gonna take their guns/drink their blood etc
The more I think (and read) about it, the more I wish this case had never been brought. I think it’s going to be incredibly difficult to prove criminal intent on election fraud, which is what they’re gonna have to do to make this a felony conviction. Best case it’s a hung jury, worst case it’s an all out acquittal. Either gives Trump a HUGE boost in public opinion going forward.
Man I hope I’m wrong and Braggs knows what he’s doing. After originally rejecting to prosecute, he then turned around and somehow found cause. Maybe he knows something the rest of us don’t and it will come out soon

Home confinement would be a good result. People are going to notice having to cancel the debates because of that. The danger is him getting probation, which conservatives and Unstuckers will be eager to spin as nothing.
I get wanting a pound of flesh from him, but the priority has to be piling on political consequences from impressing on the public that he’s a felon.
Poll after poll has found he will lose votes if convicted. So this just isn’t true
There will definitely be a lengthy appeal process, but there’s no reason (yet) to think it’ll be overturned. Of course, if he win the election it’ll get stayed

I would assume Team Trump is already very close to skipping the debates entirely this election. Also, surely the judge would make some special kind of exemption for that.
How can you say that? Trump has consistently asked for debates! You don’t think he’s lying do you?

My guess is she wasn’t elected until 2022 and replaced a Republican. That and/or investigations take time?
It’s tough when one side refuses to acknowledge any criminality by their side no matter how egregious. Didn’t used to be that way, but here we are
He’s never getting acquitted in a million years with this jury pool no matter how bad the case is, and from everything I’ve heard it’s a pretty solid case. Hung jury I could see, but no way an acquittal is in the cards.
I hope you’re right. I told my gf the other day that as much as I hate the guy, I think I could return a not guilty verdict if I didn’t think prosecution proved their case. It’s my understanding this will be hard to do. It’s not about the payments. They have to prove that they cooked the books with Trump’s knowledge and with the specific intent to commit election fraud. That doesn’t seem like a slam dunk to me
