Been at least one lifetime movie and numerous true crime shows about Cullen Davis. I am more aware of it simply because it happened where I live and itâs been talked about forever here.

FWIW itâs worth the reason I donât think he could be elected president is his age. He would be 99 at the end of a prospective 2nd term. Thatâs pushing it imo.

Way too much pessimism on here! He is being humiliated before our eyes and he is going to lose the election.
To read you guys youâd think he won the last time. The guy has lost every election he has been associated with since 2016, when everything bounced his way and he beat an all-time hated Democratic candidate.
Republicans just got rocked in the midterms despite record inflation and a historically unpopular Biden. People simply canât stand Donald Trump and anti-MAGA remains the most powerful force in American politics.

Youâre about my age and from close to the same area I am, so Iâm figuring you have about the same awareness I had about it before I stumbled on the thing that led me to the story. I knew the name but couldnât really have told you much of anything other than remembering it polarized the community. If you were 3 or 4 years older, youâd remember it a lot better, as my sister did. I was 4 when the first events happened, which is why that awareness wasnât really baked in.
There was an ABC 2-part miniseries in 1995 loosely based on the second best book about it that 1/3 of the TV sets in the country were tuned into on night 1. There have been several 1-hour documentary shows (41 minutes with commercials) that covered it. 48 Hours covered it in a 2-hour show (1.5 hours with commercials) awhile back maybe around 2017 (a promo article for a replay in 2018 led me to the story).
The scope of the story as it happened in its time demands somewhere between 6-10 hours of documentary time (no commercials). The ripple effects added with todayâs political climate might be able to add another 1-2 hours of documentary time (no commercials). A dramatized production will need no fewer than 10 hours to tell it properly (ignoring the political stuff other than as a cliffhanger end of the series possibly) and may need 13 (again with no commercials). Every other telling of the story has been nothing more than a paltry Readerâs Digest type story that gets nowhere into how insane everything was and in some ways still is.
A very bad roughly 2 hour movie will likely be made this year and an 8-episode miniseries that was in HBO development a few years ago might also still be out there. That might have been killed by The Sword of Zaslav, as weâve heard nothing else about it.
