I would think either the DA or special prosecutor having to leave the case means bigly delays, at best.

Effectively this means the prosecutor has to leave because the other option would remove the entire DAs office and refer the case back to some commission that could just decide not to prosecute. At least the DAs office has other prosecutors who could run the case now or indefinitely.

Matlock is a defense guy. I couldnā€™t think of any famous TV prosecutors so I asked MS Copilot and it listed 5, only one of which was actually a prosecutor. (Jack McCoy. I donā€™t think I ever watched a full ep of that show.)

When I pointed that out to Copilot, it gave me a new list, this time four names. Those four were on the original list. :man_shrugging:

Judge Juan Manuel Merchan agreed to a 30-day postponement and scheduled a hearing for March 25 to address questions about the evidence dump.

So potential for a longer delay, I guess.
