Dog Attack Advice

Definitely on board with people suck and not all are cut out for dog ownership for many different reasons.

Our latest dog was picked out by my son and I’m trying to take a back seat so they can form a bond, but the rest of my family complains about how awful he is on leash and he seems to be an alpha. I grab the leash and walk him around and he’s perfect, so not a dog issue there. I notice that his eyes dilate when he looks at me, but he could just be thinking about how awesome it would be if I dropped dead and nobody was around to stop him from eating me.

I think it’s more likely they get pissed that “they didn’t even contact us!” than “they had the nerve to come apologize!”

Be apologetic, offer to pay, tell them you’re looking into what it would take to make sure it can never happen again and assure them you’ll do it. If they need to vent at you and Cujo as menaces to society, just take it. If they say the dog should be put down, don’t get pissed, but don’t agree to it.

Good news. Spoke with the neighbor and dog only needed stitches and pain killers. Approximate recovery time is 4 weeks and looking at a cost of `$400.

Once again thank you UP for the support.

Awesome!

If anyone has any suggestions for an offering I could take to the neighbor feel free to chime in. I legitimately have no idea though I wanted to give them something that the dog might enjoy.

Im not as familiar with smaller breeds but it looks like a yorkie but bigger.

It’s great that the dog is gonna be okay. How do the neighbors seem to feel about you\your dog?

Just let them know you care about dogs and aren’t some asshole who has a dog but doesn’t care what happens. You don’t sound that way at all so just be honest about it all.

I’m moving. Dog rehab will take ~ 4 weeks and my dog will be quarantined in my room until I’m gone.

Universe cut me a break. Its possible she cant be rehabbed but I will seek therapy after we get settled in elsewhere.

She really has been unlucky (not excusing my malfeasance). Ive been living with family and 1 of the reasons was they had a rescue beagle that she got along with from jump street like lifelong best buddies. I was hoping this would be therapy for her. The beagle was formerly abused (took a year for it not be scared of male humans) and extremely submissive. Revvy (my dog) is dominant as frick (german shepherd dobie mix?) and actually let Alex (beagle) dry hump her lol.

A week after I moved in the beagle suffered a freak neck injury and had to be put down a few weeks later. I can still hear those yelps of pain. Sweetest dog you ever met. Revvy is an absolute sweety to humans but has a streak of crazy dog in her.

What about adding a few more dollars to gift their pooch a visit to a doggy spa once they’re healed up? Gives them something to look forward to and like this wasn’t all for nothing. And people are kind of weird in that if you/they pamper the dog, they can almost feel like they’re being pampered with them. Or maybe that’s just me

ETA: Ah maybe not. I just saw that last message FCP. These are tough situations.

Thats actually a great idea. Ive been cutting her nails myself but she was so unruly last time I was probably going to the spa anyways.

By rehab I mean shes wearing a cone and on pain meds. I think Ill just put together a basket to go along with payment.

I’d be very happy if I got something like that from you. I hope it goes over well.
