sounds like a question for @LFS
For me: personal principle. Posting on a site that is owned by a person who holds the views expressed in that thread is different, to me, than simply posting on a site with a person who holds those views. I am totally open to the possibility/likelihood that Iâm being silly and itâs purely symbolic.
So FWIW, as I stated in that thread, it is not my intention at all to exclude simp or anyone else because of their views. I just donât want him to be the owner of a site on which I post.
Adding: I totally agree it would be great if there could be an ownership group or something like that, rather than a single person.
Youâre entitled to your opinion, but I was confused because in the other thread you seemed to be drawing a comparison between simp and Mason/Mat and what they were doing on 22. Those two were doing a lot more than posting idiotic and bigoted views, which I believe is the only thing simp is doing.
You can object to all three of them, but throwing them in the same category with respect to the forum control they have exerted is not just silly, but itâs inaccurate. Those two (Mason/Mat) were much, much worse.
thank you. and before i make my decision, was there an ultimatum by you or someone else? because i donât want to vote and then find out later the unwritten implication is you self ban forever. if the choice is keep LFS one of my favorite posters or keep simpâs government name on some piece of paper i didnât even know he was the on until today itâs a no brainer
You can see the post as linked above, but I had a very strong reaction to something simp posted, a light went off in my head âwait doesnât he technically own this site, if so Iâm outâ, somebody said âwell yeah but we can change thatâ and here we are. âUltimatumâ sounds like I was making a threat and that was not my intention.
well, your awful, hateful, horrible, violent threats worked. it swayed my vote and i hope everybody understands this vote has consequences beyond how itâs portrayed cause i donât want to lose you over somebodyâs name in a registry somewhere, just stay. please stay.
All for LFS seizing the means
respectfully requesting we leave the title ![]()
I do not like forum drama and feel very sheepish
okay listen iâm being a little jokey but i donât want anyone to misunderstand the stakes here, because itâs not clear.
the vote is: keep LFS as a cherished member of our community OR keep simpâs real name in a database somewhere that makes no difference to anybody and nobody is even gonna look at until they come to arrest him. thatâs not what itâs saying the vote is, thatâs not the spirit of the vote or addressing the ownership situation on its merits, but thatâs what the vote is, and imo itâs unfair of you to put us in this position but if you want us to reassure you that your presence here is valued, youâll have it.
I hope you have a way of contacting simp outside of this site.
Well, I think itâs pretty clear that is not the motivation behind this, but if anyone reads the exchange in the thread and concludes this is about me âwinningâ or whatever, not much I can do about that.
Ya it obviously had nothing to do with you or your ego. That is a weird read on Bettlejuiceâs part.
Jesus Christ.
You sound like one of those people who thinks itâs unfair of someone to not spend their money on a ticket to a Louis CK show
Clearly this wasnât intended by LFS to get attention or support and LFS was not angling to own the site either.
I donât know if anyone but Oreo, zikzak and I remember this, but beetlejuice made things pretty difficult when trying to organize the site in the first place when he kept calling zikzak a Stalinist.
iâm not having a go at lfs iâm saying losing him would be a tremendous loss and itâs a way way bigger consideration than whether simpâs name is on some paper
You were suggesting that maybe heâs doing this because of his own insecurity and that it is unfair - which is ridiculous. Heâs free to decide whatever reasons he has for posting or not posting here and he doesnât owe any of us his posts. Itâs not unfair.
by making the statement that youâre gonna leave unless some minor clerical measure is passed, thatâs an unfair way to treat your friends, because youâre gonna win every time, because youâre my friend.
Itâs not just a clerical issue and itâs not very friendly of you to suggest that it is.
And thatâs an absurd definition of âunfairâ. He disagrees with you and heâs entitled to do that. Youâre not entitled to his posting or his feeling the same way about this as you do. Heâs not threatening to take anything from you because itâs not yours. Itâs his. You may not like it, but itâs perfectly fair.
