Find shelter, I’ll take the blame for this one.
lol no.
I was out of line. I was the mouthy one. Apologies to nunnehi
One last thing about Moore; the last two paragraphs of this article are what I’m getting at:
This raises a more important question: How’d they pull off this pair of shots? In order for this sequence to actually occur in real time, there would have been a second camera positioned at the bottom of the stairs to perfectly coincide with Moore’s climactic gesture of confrontation. But it’s not there. It’s clearly not in the shot before it, nor is it in the shot after, where Heston continues shuffling off, looking like a puppy dog kicked in the teeth.
It’s not there because there was no camera there to record the epic moment. Instead, Moore faked it a few moments later, probably instructing the cameraman to get a close-up of ‘his good side’ to serve as what he knew would be his film’s defining moment of the text. I don’t, and you shouldn’t, have that much of an ethical problem with this—the history of documentary is littered with hundreds of incidents of set-ups, reverse-shots, and coverage added later, but it certainly gives insight into intentionality. Michael Moore is without a doubt a compelling storyteller and essayist, but has he come to grips with the possibility that his brand of documentary is formally inseparable from the very modes of televisuality he seeks to rebuke?
anyways sup guyz lol i heard there was a dem debate
and Copmala got blasted with a low orbiting ion cannon
Minutia. What was compromised? Heston had ended the interview, and walking away, Moore got him to react to one last prompt. Of course he didn’t have 2 cameras there poised to execute the shot in real time. Are we suggesting he got Heston’s attention and his resultant turn to the camera for some other reason, then inserted an exchange that didn’t happen? With or without that last scene, Heston was fully revealed for who he was - a regretful, doubting old man.
And like you say, it’s totally not something 99% of audiences recognize while invested in the nauseating story of a 6-year-old girl getting destroyed by a handgun
And upon further review, he could’ve had 2 cameras there lol
Right, like the linked writer stated:
I’m not throwing the baby out with the bathwater here, just commenting on the fancy play syndrome.
Have to say that catching up on this thread was less entertaining or edifying as after the previous night’s action, but I agree with the poster who said the thread is probably about as good as the debate. Not feeling great about 2020 atm.
Also, the michael moore derail is terrible.
What about the John Pilger derail?
How can we effort to make your experience a better one here at Unstuck Politics?

Last night reminded me of Seth Meyers’ line during his WHCD performance…”What can you say about Joe Biden that hasn’t already been said, incorrectly, by Joe Biden?”
You have 1044 unread posts in this thread … cliffs?
In a way we’re kind lucky that Yang, Gabbard, and Trump have the 4chan/reddit dudes split.
In the era of Donald Trump, it’s hard to believe that anyone still thinks “being presidential” is a meaningful thing, but here you are.
He is quite prolific. The Vietnam doc caught my attention while browsing titles. Will check it out, thanks.
