Wait, that’s a real animal?
I mean, good on her for admitting it, but what was the point of raising all of the fuss about Kavanaugh then? Apparently nobody thinks sexual assault, in itself, is disqualifying - sexual assault while being a Republican is, though?
Seriously fuck everyone. We live in a hellworld.
To be fair, the two situations aren’t really the same.
Biden is a binary choice at this point, and the other option is Trump.
This wasn’t true for Kavanaugh.
I think that if Hilldawg won and nominated someone who had the exact allegations Kavanaugh had then the Democrats who opposed Kavanaugh wouldn’t have voted to confirm the nominee. But that’s just because its zero consequence politically – Hillary would have just nominated someone else. Like if Minnesota had a Republican governor do you think Gillibrand would have tried to get him to resign?
This is not true, either in the sense that Biden can’t be replaced as the nominee or in the sense that people can’t vote for someone besides those two even if he were.
Replace “Hillary” with “the DNC” and this point becomes pretty laughable. They can, right now, replace Biden with someone else who isn’t a rapist. Instead, they are all vocally supporting the rapist.
When the republicans did this, several people here rightly pointed out that there would be no difference if they nominated some other evil white guy republican - and so their insistence on keeping Kavanaugh was nothing more than a giant middle finger to victims of assault and women generally. I don’t see how this is any different.
You don’t see how an ~equivalent Supreme Court appointment is any different than the shitshow that would result once they announced they were replacing Biden?
There should be a shit show! They nominated a rapist to be president! I think a few weeks of a shit show surrounding his replacement is better than six more months of this shit slow burning, and a guarantee that the next president is a rapist no matter who wins.
Covering your eyes and plugging your ears screaming LA LA LA LA LA doesn’t mean that people don’t know what’s happening.
Jesus fucking Christ you’re really sitting here like “yeah I mean we could run someone else who doesn’t stuff his fingers inside interns, but man that would really be kind of a thing and we’d prefer not to have the attention” and you think that’s a fucking defensible attitude.
I’m sure the op-ed author would be in favor of replacing Biden with someone better. That doesn’t seem to be a viable possibility at this point.
This.
Jfc I would think some of these self-described liberals/leftists would spend less time effectively campaigning for Trump’s re-election.
Nvm
Replacing Biden means they probably have to commit to doing some sort of in-person convention to figure things out instead of doing some sort of virtual convention with speeches from remote locations.
Dems don’t want to die from coronavirus due to having to figure out how to deny the nomination to Bernie.
Uh, the evidentiary burden has not exactly been established yet.
Trump has confessed to being a rapist (or at least aspiring to be one).
One woman accused Biden, and the other evidence is shaky at best.
Yeah not if every major newspaper and every prominent member of the party and fucking #MeToo and Alyssa Milano come out and say they support him.
Like, if that’s her opinion she should write an op ed calling on the party to replace him instead of one arguing for voting for a rapist.
Let’s assume we live in a world where that isn’t likely to happen.
I’m normally on the other side of this debate but it is getting more and more difficult to see the reason Biden isn’t being replaced right now, months before the election. Have an old school convention with a floor vote. I don’t see the harm.

The best take on the situation that I’ve seen ^^
Over/under on Democratic officeholders who die from COVID-19 due to being on the literal floor for that vote?
