The decriminalization of border crossings might actually be an important policy difference. Itâs not that Democratic voters are too anti-socialist for Bernie, itâs that theyâre too xenophobic.
Yeah, sadly if bernie had specifically run on the socialism for âreal americansâ dogwhistle he might have pulled it out.

No doubt thatâs part of it, but it could come down to how the poll is worded. âMedicare for allâ polls significantly better than âA national health insurance program for all Americans that replaces private health insuranceâ, which is the wording 538 mentions. Bet you anything you like a large number of people hear âdecriminalise border crossingsâ and think âopen bordersâ.

Unfortunately I donât think it would have mattered. There are still too many living boomers who equate âsocialismâ with gulags and secret police and shirt.gov and the Dems still canât message for shit.

If Trump every figures out how much a message of âBuild The Wall and Medicare For Allâ would play, he would absolutely crush Biden.

Yep. A lot of talk about James Comey and media mentions and all kinds of secondary factors, but a huge majority of Republicans, a strong majority of Independents, and probably a majority of Democrats donât want to hear âpress 2 for Spanishâ and thatâs why Trump is POTUS.

I know it wonât happen but it does seem like bernie is the obvious choice if biden has to step down. Heâs the only candidate thatâs actually popular and has a solid base.

The physical wall would have minimal impact on boarder crossing imo, and would be beautifully cathartic to detonate
