Democratic Primaries 2020 - Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Rogan comes across very well in his Bernie interview. I’d trumpet his endorsement and not feel the slightest compunction.

I have no issue with characterizing Rogan as a dunce, but lol at him being a bad interviewer. He’s a natural.

I actually have no idea who Joe Rogan is, so I definitely don’t have an opinion, but I have enjoyed watching this thread so naturally shift from “What’s the big deal about a Joe Rogan endorsement?” to the Joe Rogan Appreciation Thread.

The hilarious thing is that white women voted for Trump in 2016. And that was with Slay Qween Hillary running! No shit they’re going to vote for him again in 2020. The threats and gaslighting that Joe Rogan is a bridge too far is just fantastic.

We’re talking about the primary. He’s possibly a bridge too far for many dem women, half of which are not white.

Do we think that Rogan and voters like him would strongly consider sitting out the general election if Democrats nominated someone who isn’t a white male because it would trigger their anti-SJW prejudice and make them feel like political correctness is being rammed down their throats?

I don’t think this Rogan endorsement is a bad thing, but here’s what’s going to happen. By making a big deal about this, some Bernie supporters are going to view criticism of Rogan as an attack on Bernie. Their natural inclination will be to push back and to find some way to excuse or support whatever view of Rogan is being criticized. Not all of them. Not most of them. Some. And that some will probably be very vocal, amplified by how social media works.

I don’t particularly enjoy Rogan. I tend to dislike his fans that I know. The politically interested among them tend to be hardcore libertarians, who I despise. The apolitical tend to be stoners or bro culture douchebags, who I despise.

But I’ve always been an advocate of making economics and class warfare the central issues for the Democratic coalition. I’ve always understood that means making compromises on other issues. Race. Abortion. War. Law enforcement. I’ve always been willing to make hard choices there. So, in theory, I accept these people on my side, though I wonder how much their votes will translate to Congressional races.

But at the same time, I’ve got to be me. One of Bernie’s appeals is his authenticity. It’s what Rogan cites rather than any policy. To be authentically me, I have to say and do things that will cheese off some Rogan voters. And they will try to paint me as inauthentic by saying that I am virtue signaling or some other nonsense, but I’m not. How much of a cultural clash will there be? We shall see.

So you’re claiming Rogan and his supporters are far from DemE, and that’s your evidence that Bernie is expanding his base? I mean you’re right on the former, I just don’t see how the logic in your brain worked through to the latter. Disaffected, edgy, mostly white kids rediscovering populist politics as the “one sweeping change” needed to make the world right seem to make up a large group of both camps.

A lot of posters have noticed that far left politics can appeal to the same kinds of people who could be just as easily drawn into the alt-right, that centrist politics is not the key to winning over 2016 Trump voters. These takes are correct but I haven’t seen anyone identify why. It’s because these voters are immensely frustrated with a world that isn’t how they want it to be, and the cognitive dissonance that stems from the fact that they’re powerless to change it. A single man promising extreme changes is appealing no matter what direction those changes take. You’re probably the clearest example of this type ITF. You went left because you had this forum influencing your direction. If you had found a home on 4chan you’d be spreading Russian troll propaganda all over the internet. Rogan’s show just stokes the grievance without pushing his listeners in a particular direction. Congrats on the endorsement, I’m sure this new group, same as the old group will be enough to put Bernie over the top.

Nice job Pete!

Wtf is liz thinking

Warren had been calling for abolishing ICE, but is not so clear anymore.

“We need ICE and custom and border patrol to focus on real threats — from terrorism, container ships, contraband, fentanyl.”

Browsing /r/joerogan seems like they’re cool with Bernie supporters and understand Joe is a comedian and can come off like a moron. It’s a running joke on there that he constantly refers to himself as an idiot.

They’re also aware that all of the attacks are coming from the establishment and not Bernie supporters. So seems like all this did was push that giant voting block further away from the DemE, and I don’t see any chances it actually hurts Bernie. lol

Yeah, I dunno. This seems similar to the people “ironically” being Nazis as a “joke.”

Didn‘t some upthread post that Rogan gets 10+ million unique listeners and viewers per month? Those are all white supremacists and neo-nazis?

Liz going from the favorite to 0% equity before Iowa is one of the most spectacular fails since Howard Dean. And really it’s worse than that because it is literally error after error.
