Democratic Primaries 2020 - Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

To be crystal clear on what I’m alleging, Clyburn is a pawn taking marching orders from DNC bosses to whip AA votes in SC. Remember that phone call he got in 2008 from an angry Bill Clinton at 2 AM because he remained neutral instead of endorsing Hillary? Like just the fucking absurdity of that single event says everything–the expectation that Clyburn would sell to his constituents the well-known pro African-American wealthy white candidate by the name of [checks notes] Hillary Clinton instead of the black guy who was a far better candidate that could actually be the first black president. Sadly, they kissed and made up.

Yeah, that seems trivially obvious, and the sad flipside is that black voters as a monolith will be blamed if/when trump wins.

I was expecting a cataclysmic idpol, hire-more-women-guards event and this might have been it.

  1. DNC gets Clyburn to play the stooge and he gets out the vote.

  2. The cascading of The Narrative starts.

  3. White voters think to ignore Joe’s problems and Fix The Racism by voting for who the black voters want.

  4. ???

  5. Profit!

Maybe the horseshoe theory isn’t complete bullshit. Or perhaps this is Inso’s Alt account?

At this point I fully believe that Warren deliberately undermined Sanders and that her intentions in being in the race were always to help Biden or, worse, help herself. Her actions amount to a ploy to take Bernie down in Mass, Minn, Maine, Texas–and she succeeded. No Sanders endorsement will be forthcoming, as the obvious triviality of the complaints about Chapo or whatever makes clear. #Feminism

I’m not not trying to be argumentative and I really am curious about these whiffed softballs. No snark, I thought I watched (read) everything but I must’ve missed them!

I know Pete was literally talking over him so if you wanted him to whip Pete’s ass and choke him out, touche.

I would’ve said way more "are you serious you dumb motherfucker"s than allowed in polite society and while that’s a joke it does illustrate my point: every person’s personalized ideal would be different. The story of your caller who supported but was passing on the caucus because of the billionaire rhetoric is above all, really weird.

We might just be at an impasse here because I’m saying the message is out there, and it’s been rejected. This is 2020, the goddamned future, smartphones, etc. I’m not trying to recruit for Team Misanthrope and I’m not saying it’s an obvious truth but it’s shocking that people don’t consider it an obvious option: voters said “Be kind and share? Nahh fuuccck thaaaat.” It certainly is the neatest explanation that ticks all the boxes.

And as for the people not adamantly “fuuuck thaaaaaat”:

I feel like launching myself in to the sun thinking about how, very recently, we were joking again about lying to the trump chuds to trick them into supporting the good policies but, oops, it turns out we had to do that for the democrat base first, even the minority folks!

“What will Bernie do for black people?”

“You’re black. Your wife is black. That means your daughter is black, and she has 6 figures of school loan debt.”

“What else?”

“Black people see the doctor and use medicine, right? And need child-care? Your daughter also just had a baby, your grandchild.”

“Yeah… But… He didn’t do a photo-op at my church.”

I’m so fucking done.

Turns out electorialism is a farce. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

A few bright spots that I have used to keep myself sane this week:

  1. In back to back cycles we got very close to overthrowing the Dem party and forcing them to nominate a leftist candidate who wasn’t a Dem.

  2. It is very very unlikely this ruse by the DemE doesn’t blow up in their face. Either he loses to Trump and going forward these naked power grabs will get more and more transparent, or he wins and is a total drooling mess who accomplishes nothing. Neither of those outcomes is good for the DemE longer term.

Also I rail against the “boomers are going to die off any day now” arguments more than anyone but there is a real chance that voters under 45 who overwhelmingly supported Bernie are turned off by this for life. And the reality is the group of people who like to vote for empty suits is dying off or will at some point.

I’ll admit that is probably a bit naive but it’s what I have been clinging to in these dark times.

Yeah, my post above is really talking about age, not race, but it flowed from that tweet thread.

Would be super interesting to see this chart compared to inflation/wages/purchasing power

There is also the positive benefit of not having to see Bernie win and get stymied by his own party on doing anything all the while having the media tell us “See we told you he can’t accomplish anything!!!”

My law partner who was also a Bernie supporter said it’s time to unplug from this stuff, keep our heads down and make as much money as we can as fast as we can and retire somewhere nice. It’s pretty hard to argue with him at the moment and I’m guessing the entire Bernie wing is feeling pretty hopeless and like giving up. I hope we don’t.

Apropos of nothing, here’s a picture I took of the Biden supporters at my caucus. Simpler times.

I’m pretty sure everyone agrees that a Bernie endorsement would be based on principle not political capital.

I spent far too long trying to figure out how the middle guys white tshirt covered stomach was pouring out of his overalls.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, no past tense.

My doom and gloom is all about that he didn’t crush ST and end it, and that the non-trumper-chud half of the country showed their asses now too. It’s like the lead up to the 2016 general, when we thought HRC would take it but we knew it’d be close and that was absurd unto itself. Maybe it hit me more but I was like, “There’s no margin of victory that will erase 10s of millions voting for this orange fuck.” And now it’s the same, seeing people vote for Weekend At Biden’s rather than vote to help their literal sons and daughters. USA#1 ain’t living this down either no matter what happens come convention time.

But.

If you’re looking for the vindication of a good fight, this is not close to over. Bernie is not dropping out and, in addition to more exposure for the good policies, there will be carnage before it is. And, there is a very real chance for us to pull it out. Think about that next debate and let your mouth water.

As predicted, Biden is in witness protection. No debate, media all in on Joementum. It’s over.

Wait, what?

Insoo up in here explaining how he’s got $2500/mo in OOP medical fees while lamenting the inevitability of M4A.

Motherfucker what would happen if all else was equal but your family brought in $60k/yr? Your wife’s condition potentially lethal? Would your loved ones potentially die because you couldn’t afford the care she’d need?
