Well my father (67) and grandmother (87) are just so relieved that “their man” Joe “won it” because he’s the only one that “stands a chance” against Trump. They are both fully captive to cable television and scientifically illiterate. My grandmother watches Boring Joe religiously. I think they both realize that Soaring Joe likely has dementia and are just hoping he doesn’t. They are the kind of people that would give all of their money to Buick and Sears because those are names they trust.

My Dad is a huge Bernie fan but even he buys into the myth that Bernie would do worse vs. Trump. Ugh. People are just so ingrained to think that meeting in the ever shifting middle is the answer.
They would absolutely fucking vote for Hillary again over Bernie while lecturing us about electability.

The toxicity discourse is just a combination of cowardice and privilege. It’s not people who are worried about losing their/not having healthcare getting more upset about snake emojis than rationing insulin. It’s not the people who went to the wars Biden supported who think an insult is worse than hundreds of thousands of lives lost.
Your life has to be so removed from the consequences of politics to engage in these kind of thoughts. The worst part about cable news controlling much of the discourse for this is that most of the people will have the exact same lives under a Trump admin vs a Biden one vs a Sanders one.

It’s very easy to come up with examples of candidates who won states in the general election that they didn’t win in the primaries. For example, Trump in the Obama states of Iowa and Wisconsin. There are many reasons to think that Sanders has no chance at Texas. Not being able to win the primary isn’t one of them.
The idea that Sanders can turn TX is predicated on the notion that he can create an unprecedented ground swell that hasn’t materialized so far.
