Serious question: Would anyone here be influenced by an actor/musician/entertainer they liked when it comes to politics and voting? I suppose some people are so devoid of info that they’d take a cue from them. I’ve also been seeing Danny DiVito endorse Sanders in a political ad and while I think it’s great and they certainly have a right to express their opinions on their own, I’m not sure it’s a good look for a candidate to use them. HRC having the most popular bands opening for her rallies didn’t seem to do much.
I mean, if they wanna get on Twitter or social media and express their political views, great. But who really thinks the rich and famous Hollywood elite are in touch or have any idea what it’s like to be among ordinary working Americans? It’s just a bad look imo. I could be wrong
I think Bernie is elite at mobilizing working class voters and they won’t be deterred because celebrities endorse him. Those celebrities might get some random non voters to vote. Seems like a net gain.
Grunching but that’s gonna be a no for me. I’m currently having major problems sleeping, have been for a while, and the girl I’m dating is like why didn’t you go to the doctor’s before? I stopped to think about it… Well, I did… But I was insured at the time by Kaiser Permanente who was also the medical provider who profited off the treatments, and they wanted me to do a few tests they agreed were pointless first, just for the record as like a pre-req, which would of course rack up 4+ copays (specialist appointment to set up a sleep study, sleep study, specialist appointment to go over the sleep study & contemplate next steps/tests, then appointments for next steps).
Meanwhile, it was nearing the end of the calendar year and I knew it would be suboptimal to start racking up out of pocket expenses in Nov/Dec, only to let the insurance company hit the reset button on my out of pocket max rolling into the next year to continue racking up out of pocket expenses… Then in February I moved, then I got busy with the WSOP, then I moved again and it was the end of the calendar year… Now it’s a new calendar year but the plans on the exchange were that much worse than last year again, so my out of pocket max is like $8300 or something. As I told her, if I could pay the $8,300 and know that the problem would be fixed, it would be well worth it… But if I spend $8,300 in medical expenses going through the whole song on dance of primary → specialist → test → specialist → test → specialist ruling things out and trying to figure it out, and I end up not solving the problem, I’d be furious and it’s making me hesitant to try.
Like trying to plan medical care around the calendar to avoid spreading your out of pocket expenses over two years is soooo USA #1. And of course the system is set up to maximize out of pocket expenses in so many ways. Like if I were just super rich and had an awesome medical team, they wouldn’t be trying to do one test at a time and bookend them with appointments, you know? They’d probably start with all the cheap labs that could show something, and go over all of them at once.
Hopefully it’ll be better now that my medical provider is not my medical insurer. That creates so many conflicts of interest in a for-profit market.
"See, I never just did things just to do them. Come on, what am I gonna do, just all of a sudden jump up and grind my feet on somebody’s couch like it’s something to do? Come on, I got a little more sense then that.
…Yeah, I remember grinding my feet on Eddie’s couch."
