Democratic Primaries 2020 - Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

#realtalk For the past half decade at least every single remotely political decision I have followed has gone the opposite way to the way I wanted. I thought I was done after corbyn got stomped, for a week I was fully black-pilled wishing for the end of everything but bern-mentum has somehow pulled me back in for one last soul crush. If bernie ends up like 8 points back from biden or worse I don’t know how I’ll handle it. Hope really is the most dangerous/painful thing.

I felt the exact same…

Meh, I don’t see how Sanders can win over a Biden/Pete/Klob/Warren(?) coalition that will build once people start caucusin’.

Nobody likes any of those people so it shouldn’t be a problem

As a Bernie volunteer I have been given notice that some caucus venues have changed and other may still yet be moved. Just make sure to check the day of.

The whole caucus concept is super interesting to me. I’d love for you to write up a trip report of some sort, either live if possible or sometime afterwards.

The fraud in California? Cmon man, that’s a Trump level conspiracy.

The WV thing is an issue with superdelegates, but it’s also silly. It’s what happens every primary where delegates that weren’t won by the nominee swing to the nominee.

Bernie has brought a ton of new voters in which is awesome, but the drawback of new and low info voters like Victor is they come up with these crazy conspiracy complaints because they have no historical reference to how the electoral process actually works.

Will definitely do this, but the new rule changes are likely to make this one much less crazy than any of the stories I’ve heard from previous years. Stuff like people pretending to strategically support a candidate they don’t actually support in the first round of balloting to mess with the results.

this is actually super interesting. Like you could feign support for (insert candidate with less than 15% support here) and then ‘see the light’ and move to your preferred candidate hoping to swing others. actually this seems like possibly the GTO play. Lol caucuses

Someone who in 2016 regularly donated to Bernie, voted for Bernie, and actively tried to persuade people I knew to vote for Bernie, who in 2020 continues to regularly donate to Bernie and considers him my 2nd choice by a huge margin is an establishment shill?

No, I’m just trying to stop people like you from being toxic to the progressive cause. You are absolutely actively turning people off who we should be engaging to bring aboard the progressive cause. Pushing conspiracy theories like some fringe supporters like yourself do leads to both sides are crazy arguments when attempting to demonstrate the derangement of Trump supporters.

Your posting on here is 100% toxic to our mutual cause and I only hope that you don’t engage with people this way in the real world.

How can you consider yourself a progressive and not have Bernie as your first choice? He’s the only progressive running. Not rhetorical, genuinely curious.

Yeah, this seems like a genuine question coming from an honest place.

I get that there is a group of Bernie supporters who are angry at Warren but to state this is to ignore her entire political career and her entire policy platform this campaign. The agenda she is proposing, just like Bernie’s would be the most progressive agenda this country has ever seen and the most wide sweeping change seen since FDR.

I believe Warren is better prepared to get things done in what is going to be a deeply divided environment for whoever wins in 2020. Warren is in favor of getting rid of the filibuster and Bernie is not. Warren is more prepared to push things through via executive order to get them done than Bernie is. And I’m sorry to bring it up but I do have small concerns about giving the nomination to a man who will be turning 79 before the election and has already had a heart attack during the campaign. I am concerned about what happens if he wins the nomination and then has another medical issue come up. It is a risk I am especially concerned about taking in a must win election.

ETA: I have worse concerns about giving the nomination to a clearly senile old man in Biden.

These are the reasons that broke what was an incredibly close decision at the beginning of the campaign for me.

I’m with you up to here. This is a really shitty poisonous dumb point of view – that you can’t trust anybody’s analysis that doesn’t agree with you already.

There’s an argument that the Democratic Party has at least three wings—democratic socialist, progressive, and centrist—so a progressive who is not a democratic socialist could reasonably support someone who they see as a non-centrist, non-socialist progressive.

Hahahahaha

This is about as damn near close as an endorsement as you can get from someone in the race. Not that it’s groundbreaking news, but certainly a surprise to see Yang admit it.

How many Dem senators do you believe there will be in 2020? Estimate who you believe will be the 51st most liberal Senator? The 60th? Assume Bernie is the nominee for the sake of this question.

Joe Biden’s platform would also be the most progressive agenda in American history. Is he a progressive?

I understand your argument but I think it’s missing the forest from the trees. The reason all of these centrists are running on a “progressive” platform is because Bernie exists. I can’t imagine not voting for the genuine article. I’m glad you’ll support him if he wins the nomination.
