It’s gonna be so great when Trump and his supporters say Bernie supporters are too mean.

Michael Moore, just last night at a Sanders rally, pointed out that per polling shortly after the 2016 election, Sanders would’ve beaten Trump in a state Hillary ended up losing to Trump by 60-something to 30-something. It was one of the Virginias iirc, and the state Trump’s margin-of-victory over Hillary was the widest lol so I think maybe we could deduce a wee bit of something.

well the obvious reaction is that poll or michael moore is completely full of shit.

Oh wow:

In the West Virginia primary of 2016, all 55 counties voted for Bernie Sanders for President. But…the West Virginia delegation pledged its support to Hillary Clinton.

“People were so frustrated that they left the party,” Vickers said. “In the general election, we couldn’t get out the vote for Hillary. Everybody who supported Trump came out in the general election and voted Trump. And they voted Republican right down the ballot. People were so disgusted (with the primary outcome) that they just stayed home.”

Ofc they stayed home after seeing that their vote was completely ignored. WTF was the point of the primary if the result was predetermined anyway?

There were eight superdelegates

What a great system we have.

Maybe next time Bernie shouldn’t apologize when a surrogate calls Biden corrupt.

Maybe he should just do it himself. This dude is a huuuuge target. Letting him through to the general without getting his ass kicked on corruption would be a disaster.

This kind of stuff is treated like sex was in the Kennedy era by the press. There is no chance Trump won’t weaponize all of it.

The Democratic nominee needs to be as clean as Barrack Obama so that Trump can’t whatabout his way out of the many many corrupt things he’s done in office. Let’s not forget that he’s not very smart and he won by calling HRC crooked every single time he said her name for months… and then he got himself impeached trying to manufacture dirt on Biden that would make him look even more corrupt.

In other news calling your incumbent opponent crooked is fantastic politics in 2020. It’s a big part of how AOC won her seat, and it’s exactly the right tool for insurgent candidates to use to beat establishment candidates. Hating corruptions is one of the few things that literally every person who isn’t in the top 5% of the population economically can agree on.

Guessing it’s the Putin - Bernie connection next
I’ve seen a couple of Democratic insiders I follow dropping cryptic hints like “we don’t know how many dots connect Bernie to Putin, but they’re there”

Probably a lot fewer dots than there are dots that connect Biden to our nations actual biggest enemies… banking and healthcare lobbyists.

Without defending the entire thing, I think it does include a useful point:

“Their theory of the case is to recruit old white guys who are longtime Establishment insiders who will run on a boring agenda Democrats would have run on 20 years ago,” complained Adam Green, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee. “The DCCC is doing it wrong,” insisted Democracy for America’s Neil Sroka. “In district after district, the national party is throwing its weight behind candidates who are out of step with the national mood,” proclaimed a long piece in the left-wing Intercept attacking the party’s House recruitment strategy, “The DCCC’s failure to understand the shifting progressive electorate is costing the party.” Zephyr Teachout was quoted saying, “Their strategy is stupid in the first place and bad for democracy, but then it’s really stupid because they have 26-year-olds sitting around who don’t know anything about the real world deciding which candidates should win.”

As we now know, it was a good strategy to win the House. Democrats flipped 40 seats. Tellingly, while progressives managed to nominate several candidates in red districts — Kara Eastman in Nebraska, Richard Ojeda in West Virginia, and many others — any one of whose victory they would have cited as proof that left-wing candidates can win Trump districts, not a single one of them prevailed in November. Our Revolution went 0–27, Justice Democrats went 0–18, and Brand New Congress went 0–6. The failed technocratic 26-year-old bourgeoise shills who were doing it wrong somehow accounted for 100 percent of the party’s House gains.

I mean he’s running as a leftist and he has an unlimited budget… It turns out advertising works when your message is broadly popular.

So obviously running a socially liberal candidate is bad in red districts… but riddle me why it’s a good idea to run a centrist in the many many safe blue districts that have centrist representation.

I think the argument that economically liberal messages are bad in deep red districts is just wildly inaccurate. I spend too much time talking to truck drivers to think that they are anything but socially very conservative and economically very liberal. I suspect that WV is basically a state full of people with the views of the median truck driver.

Bernie/Yang type candidates can crush it with the trucker demographic by lining up with their economic views. Bernie ranting about corrupt billionaires stealing the lives of working people plays incredibly well in truckerland. Way better than anything HRC ever said for sure.

Well that is interesting.

It’s not. It’s why I hate people like Schumer and Feinstein WAY more than I hate Manchin.
