God I hope so. Please let the only person in the western world less popular than trump be his running mate.

I thought it was 15 percent at a caucus?

It shouldn’t surprise me, but it’s astonishing to see every single one of the corporate mass media slapdicks come out all at once against Bernie.

Nope it’s a 15% threshold to be eligible for delegates in all caucuses and primaries this time around.

This makes a brokered convention way less likely right? The front runners are going to be the only ones getting delegates.

Guess I should review the rules. Is there a decent source that lays them out?

Yup. It is actually a very good rule change for Bernie. Superdelegates don’t come in unless no one gets a majority of pledged delegates on the first go round. So he is very live to get 50%+ of the delegates. The other implication is that candidates who are sitting on zero are going to be probably continuing less far than they would if they were getting delegates awarded proportionately.

Looks like you only need 15 percent in a congressional district to get delegates, at least in states with more than one.

The more I look at Bernie the more confident I am he steamrolls Trump in the general. The guy may not have the foggiest idea about politics details, but in a weird way that’s a positive. None of it is getting done anyway.

Look most of my objection to Bernie is that he has absolutely no track record of getting things done, and some of his policies (particularly free college and a jobs guarantee) are strong contenders for ‘dumbest policy proposed by any politician in the US’… but the more I look at the situation the more certain I am that nothing is getting done no matter who we elect.

Given that nothing is getting done no matter what because of eDems secretly being interchangeable for GOP politicians Bernie leading a primary purge in 2022 and 2024 is probably just what the doctor ordered. I had been comparing Bernie to John the Baptist as my main metaphor but it’s entirely possible he’s actually Moses to keep the biblical theme going.

His job may not be to actually see the promised land… his job might be to lead us to the borders and drop dead. I don’t like the idea of saying that we aren’t going to get any traction until at least 2024, but it’s entirely possible that’s how this plays out. It’s not ideal, but it’s a damn sight better than picking Biden and losing to some fascist in 2024 after losing tons of ground in 2022 and seeing the eDems keep rolling along.

I guess we aren’t going to just skip the inevitable inter-party fight over what the Democratic Party is about, and if that’s the fight we’re about to have I’d like Bernie to be in charge. Warren might have been able to LBJ it up and force the eDems to come along and get some stuff done in the next 4 years, but if a fight is what we have to have… fine.

Bernie spent months campaigning for Clinton in 2016, including a bunch of events the weekend before the election in Iowa trying to close the 2.5% polling gap that would end up being a 10% Trump win, and Hillary’s mad because he didn’t come by and kiss the ring of a loser?

Looks like I missed that myself. So some of the delegates are statewide 15% threshold and some are by congressional district. If anyone knows how to see what the actual splits are for that it would be interesting to see.

Bernie has the receipts for everything

Media is going to be increasingly astonished when their half assed hit jobs result in Bernie gaining more support. Going to be be glorious to watch.

I think Bernies ceiling is pretty high (run the table on trump get 60 senators and go ham). But even if you disagree I think you might agree that his floor is

  1. End trumps executive orders and do as much as possible by eo
  2. Use every pulpit available to the POTUS to repeatedly and vociferously point out why nothing is happening not just levelled at cocaine mitch (which the edems are scared to do) but at the whole corporate funding structure that enables him (which the edems are Co conspirators so would never ever do).
  3. Hold the line for when the new wave democrats led by AOC come to full maturity.

That would be just about enough to save us all imo.

Bernie definitely has a path to a super majority because of his overwhelming support among young people who normally don’t vote at high levels. If you increase voter participation of the 35 and under crowd it really changes the dynamic of the whole electoral map. I guess the only questions I have are first whether Bernie will actually turn these people out in much higher numbers and secondly whether you will have many centrist Dem types not vote or vote 3rd party or vote Trump to offset this.

My personal take is that young people are more connected to the political landscape than they were even 20 years ago because of two things. Climate change and student loans. I think you throw Bernie on top of that as an option rather than a establishment loser like Biden or Pete and you have a chance for a real sea change. Maybe that is too optimistic but I hope not.

Well he’s got to defeat the GOP, the MAGA chuds, the mainstream media, Russian hacking, voter suppression and 80-90% of his own party so its gonna be a pretty steeeeep uphill battle.

Are we despised, ignored and widely mocked? No, it’s the readers who are wrong.

I am officially endorsing Bernard Sanders for theDemocratic Nomination for President.

I have seen enough. I know enough. I consider myself fairly moderate but watching the moderate establishment go hard as a motherfucker against Bernie, I know he is the man for the job. He is the only democratic candidate who will mobilize millions of people to take action in opposition to Trump.

The Democratic Party absolutely wants a right wing candidate to win the nomination. That must not happen.
