Democratic Primaries 2020 - Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

and for what? Just a permanent majority in all houses of government and the political force to enact progressive policies. So basically nothing.

“Democrats are Screwed if they pick Sanders“

  • David Frum, Bill Kristol, Bret Stephens, Hillary Clinton, Jennifer Rubin

I can think of no better endorsement of his candidacy.

“Least committed to the political process” is one of the more amazing dog whistles I’ve seen.

Seems like all the hate Bernie has been getting is only making him stronger. The polling jump over the last few weeks in basically all polls is pretty insane.

It’s hard to overstate how much people are fed up with legacy media pundits.

If Bernie gets the nomination they have a huge incentive to work together. Obama is a relatively young guy and is well liked enough to where he can have still a large impact on the country as a POTUS emeritus. Bernie will need him as a get out the vote advocate as Barack/Michelle are still the biggest draws in the party and he’s going to need 10s of millions of votes from people who like Obama more than him to win the general.

I gotta be honest, the fact Bernie is literally the betting favorite is getting my hopes WAY WAY up at this point. If he gets the nom my tenure on team WAAF is officially over.

Frum is not just a pundit though. GWB speech writer. Originator of “Axis of Evil”. Shares in the guilt over 20 years of war, a million deaths, and tens of millions of refugees. He should be as welcome as Pol Pot.

Man o man how Carter just crushes it in the POTUS emeritus rankings.

Don’t let them get too high. He’s not likely to get 2000 delegates or whatever it takes before the convention and the superdelegates come into play and also we have to get like all of Liz’s delegates.

There are some very real scenerios where Liz gets 0 delegates. She needs to hit 15% in a state to get any with the new rules right? I also don’t see her continuing on as her polling dwindles to the single digits. A bad performance in Iowa and NH and that could be it for her.

Dunno. I think I saw that. A plurality is no guarantee for Bernie. That’s all I’m saying…and he’s yet really a favorite even to get a plurality.

I guess it’s better than waaf though.

Looks like I’m going to have to switch allegiances from Liz to Bernie. We’re feeling the Bern up here in NH.

The 15% rule is huge. For example in the latest Utah poll, Bernie is in a commanding lead with 28%. No one else is over 15%. If those poll results held on voting day, Bernie would win 100% of delegates in Utah, as opposed to last time when he won like 75% of the delegates despite winning the state 75%-25%. It’s very easy to imagine a scenario where he gets over 50% if he starts out well, especially if the Petes and Klobs of the race keep hanging around, lest we forget Bloomberg and Steyer spending nearly a half billion combined in ad money already, resulting in them likely getting some >5% < 15% chunks in Super Tuesday states and likely beyond.

15% rule also makes it more likely that someone gets a majority of delegates because only the top 2-3 candidates will get any. It also probably speeds up people dropping out. If Warren goes 0/0/0/0 in the first 4 states she may not make ST.

Well the mainstream media now has 7 days to stop the Bernie train. Here’s Monday’s attempt:

I’m not going to hold that against Bernie. I wouldn’t stop and help Chris Matthews either.

Same rule might hurt him in other states though, right?

She has to hit 15% in a state to get a delegate. Right now that seems like it may not happen as she doesn’t have a RCP average in any of the first four states of 15% or higher. Her polling is also trending in the wrong direction with most recent polls in the 10% range. If she gets blanked the first 4 primaries is she really going to continue on to Super Tuesday?

If Bernie sweeps IA/NH/NV he is almost certainly going over 15% in every state right? At that point the hype train is going to be steaming along full force.
