Tried the carrot, mandates going to be the stick.
My theory is that people tend to advocate techniques that would work on themselves because they want to think of themselves as a normal person. (I have never had the illusion that I am normal.) People who can be incentivized to act good support using incentives to mold behavior. People who need to be forced to act good when they don’t want to advocate the stick. This explains conservative attitudes towards crime and punishment. We just need to listen to how they talk and then use those methods against them.

EU banning non essential travel from the US?
Just got an alert.
The European Council is advising EU member states to not allow US travelers but it’s not actually a ban itself.
Reuters reported the same thing 3 weeks ago and in June and July.

If rich people want it enough, it’s essential. Otherwise, not essential.

Well, I was lucky to get an appointment for a PCR test for my daughter for Monday afternoon (most others will need to wait for Tuesday). Then when I get the test results back (Tuesday or Wednesday) I can alert the school district/health department/school who I guess will take action when they get around to it.
So timeline:
Saturday: Test positive on with an Antigen test.
Wednesday/Thursday: School notifies parents of children and quarantines them.
Huge shocker that it only took 12 school days for my kid to get covid.
