No worries. Nate sez Delta almost over

We’re going to the Badlands/Black Hills starting Friday on a 10 day trip. We’re towing a trailer so we’re pretty self contained, other than crowds in the parks. We’ll be wearing masks indoors and out.

Think we’re still good? Our only direct interaction close to other people would be when stopping for gas if I need to go inside the store (I shouldn’t), and grocery shopping a couple of times during the trip. And check ins at the campgrounds.

Does the CDC even do briefings anymore? We seem to continue to have a huge lack of “official” information. And it would be nice to have someone with charisma to lead the Covid fight, although I can’t really believe anyone, no matter how good, would get the deplorable seal of approval.

Meantime, it seems like somebody must know something or they wouldn’t be suggesting boosters at eight months.

Where did you find kn95 for kids that come relatively soon? I ordered some but they are weeks out

This isn’t in some link you can share?

It seems pretty unlikely to me that immunity from serious illness just falls off a cliff after 6 months - regardless of some breakthrough cases.

People who got really sick have been around a lot longer than the vaccinated - and they seem to not be landing back in the hospital in big numbers. I know of zero anecdotal cases of people who have gotten sick twice.

So maybe the worst case scenario is we all have to have a good bout of sickness from this once - whether it’s pre-vaccine or post-vaccine. But until people start landing in the hospital twice, en masse, I’m not going to freak about about endemic.

Like you said this guy is pessimistic. I’ve seen other doctors like this and they’re always trying to be as scary as possible because they’re pushing N-95 for everyone as the solution. I’m not shaving my beard. I look like Mitch McConnell. I’ll just die or stay inside.

Sounds like a great plan.

They’ve all had like 7 vaxxinations while they talk about freedumb.
(3 of each mRNA plus a JnJ for fun)

So is anything stopping someone from getting a second vaccine? Has anyone here done it or thinking about it?

Pretty sure in CA they have records they check against.

Ordered from here, but they’re 10-15 days out for kids masks. 5-7 for adults.

Man it’s crazy how fast things change in the COVID world. I feel like in the last month or so it seems like even the most with it folks like us are now resigned to the fact that everyone is just pretty much doomed to catch it and fingers crossed you survive at this point.

We have a friend that got a breakthrough infection (JnJ) after a driving trip out to Yellowstone from Chicago. (Mild symptoms).

She is planning on driving into Wisconsin and getting an mRNA shot. She can’t get one in Illinois due to their registry.
