too bad for bernie young people don’t vote. but i think, much like evangelicals, evangelical youth would probably crush turnout.
The only thing that would worry me is I remember seeing a statistic that Trump counties have much higher birth rates religious nutters have lots of kids and would do their absolute best to force their kids to probably mail in vote how they want or live on the streets
Also iirc jd Vance wanted parents to be able to vote for their kids, not allow kids to vote
another funny tangent that could easily belong in another thread. i have a coworker who was still registered to vote at his right wing parents address. apparently they kept asking if they could fill out his ballot, until he physically removed the ballot from their house.

I agree that I like to think I’d beat this guys ass. Rationally though you’d probably catch a charge even if it’s later dismissed. And that if it were a black teenager harassing an old lady about, say, not supporting BLM, the odds of being charged are virtually nil.

This is why I’m glad I left SF. In 5 years I saw so many ugly scenes like this on the buses and trains. Some people can shake it off but it really grinded on me.
Even in LA the few times I’ve taken public transportation - we had some guy, clearly losing his mind screaming about how he was going to kill anyone who even looked at him. Luckily there was some club of tough-looking Mexican guys with their tiny little tricked-out bicycles on the train. Eventually they surrounded the guy and herded him off at one of the stops. Gotta love LA.

I think most people are just hoping somebody else steps up. Granted, this dude looking like he was just browsing in Vineyard Vines is among the least intimidating characters I’ve seen start shit like this on the train. The guy standing next to him at the beginning I assume is with him, so you’re probably thinking it’s a 1v2 situation if you step in. I’m a bit surprised nobody got up to tell him to cut it out - if one person did, others would follow, I believe.
I would probably step up against that soft-looking piece of shit. I’m big and I can usually just put my body between someone like that and the lady and they don’t fuck with me. If that doesn’t work getting crazy eyes and screaming at them to back the fuck off usually does.
But if it was some creepy incel, I’d at least be thinking about that dude in Portland who stabbed and killed two guys who intervened while he was harassing some Muslim woman.
If he respects freedom so much why is he telling people to “sit down”. They should be free to stand up, right?
The tension of the situation might prevent it, but I feel like my strongest reaction would be to belly laugh (green-shirt-guy style) when he starts chanting 1776.

It’s the best way to deal with it, rather than trying aggression, get his attention and throw some jokes his way, tell him to lighten up.

Yeah what I would do is say “all right all right” - like enough is enough - as I put my body between them w/o making eye contact with the dude. That usually works.
The second dude definitely complicates things - but I can’t see a real fighter being friends with Vineyard Vines dude.
I’m basing this on like two or three occasions that I can remember - mostly at bars, one at my work.
Emphasis on “all” instead of “right”.
